    Foot infection?

Im not sure if there are any scabs under his foot because it's hard to lift him (50+ lbs), but we're checking tomorrow. There are no avian vets near us unfortunately, so we can't get him X-rayed. We'll definitely try the aspIrin tomorrow, thank you!

    Foot infection?

Today we noticed one of our turkeys feet are swollen - the entirety of one and a back toe on the other. It doesn't appear to be bumblefoot from what I've seen, as the masses are squishy with no scab. He's not limping and doesn't seem lethargic or showing any other physical symptoms. I'm thinking...

    Possible fowl cholera??

We're in Maine and just had a severely cold weekend (in the negatives) and it looks like two of our roosters have problems. They both have extremely inflamed waddled and one has bugs on him(mites maybe) as well as a new neck problem. I don't know wht to do - no chicken has ever had an...

Unknown chicken might've brought something into our flock

Earlier we put DE in areas outside where they sunbathe and put small amounts on the feathers of the hen. We are going to wash their coop today to try and get rid of whatever the bugs are.

Unknown chicken might've brought something into our flock

Yesterday morning at around 10 I found a chicken that passed away inside our coop. She seemed to be an almost full-grown or full-grown light Brahma chicken, but our full-grown Brahma was right next to me at the time. Later that evening I confirmed that 4 of our baby Brahmas with the same...

    Amoxicillin dosage for duck?

Alright, so we have a baby duck with a severe peck wound, which I've posted about. He's around a month-2 months old and is just starting to get his white feathers. We want to prevent infection and read up on amoxicillin for ducks. We're not sure what the correct dosage would be for him. I'd say...

    Extremely urgent! Severe peck wound

he's not too big and his wound is still fairly open so we haven't in fear it would hurt him.

    Extremely urgent! Severe peck wound

He seems to be doing fine, eating and drinking normally. He doesn't make much noise unless we lift the lid of his bin up (which we only do to check on the wound and feed/water him).

    Extremely urgent! Severe peck wound

the original wound is what we thought was from the fence, as some baby chicks will get stuck but this is def a peck wound. There are dogs around, but he was the only one injured. (plus if a dog had gotten him I think the wound would be a lot bigger considering the duck is small)

    Extremely urgent! Severe peck wound

He’s acting somewhat normal, his heads somewhat droopy and he’s tired. He seems to be eating and drinking alright, and no odors. The photos blurry because he’s not really social and with his injury I don’t want to stress him out. Our ducks that are outside are the same age and older. The photo...

    Extremely urgent! Severe peck wound

Unfortunate a vet isn’t an option - we’ve called all in the area and none of them take poultry or farm animals. just got to post an image, before I needed a url. The silver is from the bandage, best photo I could get without disturbing him.

    Extremely urgent! Severe peck wound

alright, we had to put a duck down previously due to a similar injury (tons of skin missing from the neck and just hanging onto him) from a dog, so I was worried about the little guy.

    Extremely urgent! Severe peck wound

I hate to have to post here again this Soon, but we’re not sure what to do. A week ago one of our ducks that is outside had two raw spots on his neck-/head area. We think since he’s not as big as the others, he might’ve gotten caught in the fence. (we got the fence last year and each hole is...

    Seizing duck?

Unfortunately the little duck passed away today, but it was highly expected as a week or two ago my mother had to revive him almost, the others are doing fine, though!

    Seizing duck?

We have been putting them in warm water when they swim but havent been paying much attention to what we give themt o drink (its normally around room temp, not hot but not cold). Thank you for the information, we didn't know this!

    Seizing duck?

Yes, they are able to, there's a heating lamp at one end of their bin/cage directly over it but they mostly avoid that area and stay in the middle. Despite this, they never seem to get dry and we have to hold them under the heating lamp for around an hour for them to somewhat dry

    Seizing duck?

we get our water from the faucet, not sure why they die when they get wet. We think they cant dry themselves off all the way, as when they do get wet theyre completely drenched and shaking.

    Seizing duck?

We feed them some sort of duck feed crumble since theyre so little I think. They dont get to swim daily, every week or so we'll fill up a small bin for them to swim in for a bit.
