I reintroduced Jemima to the flock this morning as she wasn’t eating as much as I would have liked. She was well received and even beak- kissed. ❤️ I’ll check on her in about an hour to make sure things are still ok.
The opossum has been dispatched.
Agreed. I underestimated how high the snow had gotten at the fences 😞 and have been lax probably because of the lack of predators.
Believe me I’ve learned my lesson. This spring will doing a large overhaul on all the enclosures.
Wife, Mother and grandmother. May have been called “bird lady” in recent history. I have Guinea fowl, chickens, ducks and a rescued homing pigeon.
Very happy on our patch of almost 40acres in Upstate/western NY.
All guesses. Could be the snow is very high so the fences are easy to climb. Could be the doors to the pen aren’t as tight as they could be. Could be a network of tunnels. Looking at making a lot of changes.
Something attacked one of my full grown Pekins that was outside. Thought for sure it was a raccoon. Found an opossum in their pen this morning so wondering if I’m wrong.
Anyone have a similar issue? BTW She survived and I am caring for her.
