    Cotoneaster parneyi makes a nice hedge and produces berries that the birds like. Probably not something kids would like to eat though. Red currants are another option. The chickens eat the berries, you can make delicious jelly, and the shrubs don’t spread like raspberries.

    Wish I had seen this thread with comments about eggs. My Bieles are big and friendly birds but only laying 2 to 3 unuepectedly small eggs a week. I'm disappointed with the breed and wouldn't get again, but like them too much to put them in the pot.
