He seems to be improving. He still has a somewhat poor appetite (mostly eating a small amount of treats) and his poop has been minty green since the attack but I've been noticing less of the green spots each day so hopefully that starts improving.
Thanks! Would enrofloxacin work? There is a wound under his right wing so I just applied more iodine which I did the first day, too. I haven't opened the wing though cuz I am worried about hurting him if is dislocated or broken. Is there any way I can get an idea on if it's broken or dislocated...
My duck was attacked by an eagle. At first he seemed mostly unharmed, albeit rather traumatized and there was some blood in a few spots and he couldn't flap his wings like normal. Last night his wings started drooping like he was struggling to keep them up but today they seem like they are in a...

Funny enough I haven't noticed any overzealous behavior between them lately, particularly since they started molting, and even before that there were only a handful of times I saw some mating/dominant behavior. I'll keep an eye out for them but they were so happy to see each other when I brought...
Just got back! They were just scabs! The vet was able to pull the rest of it off. He thinks they were probably from my other drake getting a bit rough. We got an antibiotic (Orbax) to treat his respiratory infection so hopefully he stops being so picky once he feels better.
I will update after the appointment. Here is a better picture of the chunk of skin thing. It's on both sides of his body hidden by his wings. The yellow part lies against his body but I was peeling it away for the picture. I forgot to give it a whiff and didn't give him an epsom bath. I'll wait...
Thanks! I will try to give him a bath and smell when he wakes up from his nap. I didn't even consider maggots 🤢. They have a dirt floor for their night coop that I don't clean as often as I should and they are free range in the yard all day. I only have two ducks. Food they get duck pellets, I...
Hi, I have a male Ancona duck that has a weird chunk of skin growth or scab-like thing in a couple spots under his wings and he feels very skinny. The skin thing was able to be moved and wiggled, it almost seems like matted feathers but like they're growing the wrong direction. His breathing...
I'm not sure if it's "normal", but I see it with my drakes from time to time. As long as it goes back in and doesn't look irritated, I don't worry about it.
Unfortunately Hay Hay died this morning while I was setting up his indoor space. I am wondering if maybe he had an illness unrelated to the bumble or if I gave him too many sunflower seeds while he was hurt to keep his appetite up and maybe that caused a blockage. 😭
I think I spoke too soon. He is going downhill fast it seems. He didn't eat today and he just laid down all day. In his side of the coop I found tiny bits of minty green poop and when I picked him up today his breastbone felt more prominent and he seems skinnier. I ordered some Enrofloxacin, but...
I made a vet appointment but they can't see him until May 17th! I watched some videos on bumblefoot surger and they seem to risky for me to do myself without more experience.
He's doing okay for now, still in pain but still eating and drinking at least. Do you know if any of the antibiotic...
Hi, my poor duck started limping about three days ago and I'm not sure if he has bumblefoot or something else that may be more urgent to find an avian vet.
I don't see any scab or anything and his leg is warm. He is still eating and drinking and after a night a being cooped up he seems like he...
I thought it might be panting but wasn't sure. There is plenty of space in the shade and usually they nap near each other. There has been some fighting and attempted mating type behavior between my three drakes. He's not on the bottom of the pecking order, but maybe he just got sick of the...
We've been having some unusually hot weather these past couples days, mid to high 80s. One of my ducks has been choosing to sit by himself in "his spot" during the hottest part of the day, even though it's in the hot sun. He's opening and closing his mouth like quacking but no sound. If I...
I only have three little pools right now. I checked out a book to build a pond but my boyfriend needs to be convinced. I'll find some more containers to fill with water and I'm hoping to set up a soldier fly bin that harvests itself to give them something fun to do. I only have the one group...
