Is there anything that can be done if your hen punctures her crop? I'm new to raising chickens and I am so worried right now? It's after hours so I can't reach a vet. Any ideas would be extremely helpful!
Yeah, it's definitely a hole. It almost looks like a mix between being ripped/torn open and a puncture wound. What do I do?!?!??! I'm so upset and I'm definietely freaking out now!
I just went down to check on my chickens, and one of my only laying hens has some sort of fluid leaking from her chest area. This is my first time with chickens and I am really worried abou her. She's a BSL just over 5 months old. She appears to be fine otherwise. She did tuck her head toward...
A couple weeks ago, I posted some pics of one of my girls trying to figure out what breed she was. Almost everyone said that she looked like a Buff Orpington. However, today I noticed that her tail feathers are now growing in a Dark Brownish-Black color. I thought that BO's were a solid buff...
My first egg! Needless to say, I am beyond excited (even though the egg is tiny in comparison to a normal sized egg)!!!!! It came from my Black Star, Jambalaya:
This pic is to show the size difference between a Large store bought egg and what my baby girl layed. I don't care though. I'm so...
The first one is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. I'm not sure about the second one. The dark ones are hard to see since the photos are a little blurry. They look a lot like my black sexlink looked when she was younger.

I just look through all my pictures of the girls as babies, and none of them are very good. They are pretty far away and don't show a lot of detail. Here's one of them, but like I said, it's not very good! Sorry!
She's the one in the middle, obviously.
That's...
The same thing happened to me. I was told mine was a leghorn, and then her wings started coming in brown and black. She's almost full grown now and she turned out to be a Delaware.
She does appear to look redder than she did before... Here's a couple of updated photos of the 2 hens in question. I took these yesterday so hopefully it'll be easier to figure out what they are!!
Here's Jambalaya:
and Here's Dumpling:
Yeah, I have one Black Sexlink and she looks totally different than the bird in the first picture. I think I'm going to add more recent pictures of them tomorrow. Maybe it'll be easier to tell. Thanks for the help so far!!
Hello everyone! My name is Sarah and I'm from Cortez, CO. This is my first year with chickens and I'm very happy to have them. I got my girls in March, so they are going on 4 months now. I have 8 total: one Delaware, one Blue Marans, one Golden Laced Wyandotte, one California White, one White...
