Finally done with my coop & run

Thank you - I built for up to 6 because it’s all I’m allowed in the city. Eventually they’ll be allowed to free range my backyard, but I gotta fix a few spots in the fence first.

8 week old Easter Egger cockrel - Western Washington, willing to drive

Chi is in fact a he. 8 weeks old. While he is very sweet, and has been handled daily since we brought him home - I cannot have a rooster in the city. Willing to drive anywhere within 3ish hours of Seattle to bring him to you.

Easter Egger - 8 weeks - leaning towards cockrel?

I bought sexed chicks - but this one has always had me worried that 'she' is in fact a 'he' - based on very different behavior from the other girls and now seems to be developing a red comb. S/he does not have any muff. They are 8 weeks old, my first time having chickens. -- thoughts? Thanks...

Finally done with my coop & run

Doors are done now! 3 doors added: tall door for cleanout, top door for feeding without letting the chicks out, and then the top and bottom door can open as one to let them out to free range when they get big enough. I'm very happy it turned out so well (and very happy it's finally done!)

Finally done with my coop & run

No, sorry - the apron is 18” — 12” under the pavers + 6” beyond

Finally done with my coop & run

The hardware cloth apron extends beyond the pavers about 6” and is a single length run on each side. The pavers are on top of the hardware cloth. The pavers are just keeping the wood from sitting against the ground and getting mud splashed up since it’s very rainy here near Seattle.

Finally done with my coop & run

Thank you! 2 barred, 2 EE - though I’m starting to think the white one might be a rooster, unfortunately.

Finally done with my coop & run

Took me about 3 months to build on weekends (and working around PNW rainy weather) by myself. I still need to build the run door - but so close to being done! I used mostly recycled materials - minus the run lumber, roofing and hardware cloth. I have an 18” hardware cloth skirt under the pavers...

    Any Home Bakers Here?

Hi everyone - new to BYC, just got my first 4 chicks a few weeks ago. I've been making my own bread for 10-ish years now - whole wheat, but using half whole wheat and half sprouted whole wheat flour was a game changer! So fluffy and light! I use a breadmaker to mix the dough and then bake it in...

    Big Fan of Coffee Grounds

New chicken owner here - so forgive me if this is a silly question - but couldn’t you just get the free grounds from Starbucks instead of buying them?

New chicken mom in Maple Valley, WA

Nice to meet you! Just got my 4 girls 3.5 weeks ago. Been wanting chickens for 7 years, but wasn't able to have them until now. Very excited! They've been a great source of joy so far, and growing so fast!

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello! :frow New chicken owner here. In Maple Valley - just got my first chicks 3 weeks ago, 2 barred and 2 easter eggers. Worried one of the EE might be a roo, based on slow feathering compared to 'her' sisters and behavior, but not sure it's really possible to tell at 3.5 weeks. What should I...
