Yeah I was wondering how to dispose of the flies and maggots being it's reusable. I looked on the manufacturer's site and it said nontoxic to dogs and animals but was wondering if anyone has ever tried this or has more knowledge of it.
It's kind of gross. I like the idea of reusable and saving...
I have bought the reusable Rescue fly traps.
Now the ingredients say nontoxic.
They are loaded with flies and maggots.
What I'm wondering is if these could be fed to chickens?
I had a rooster just going through something like what your gosling is going through. He was moving his head/neck in a really strange manner like he swallowed wrong.
I put a little apple cider vinegar and Corid in his water. Apple cider vinegar has anti bacterial properties in it so if food...
No 25 more roosters!
The coop we have now is 6x18. The new coop is 8x40. Their yard is 32x32 right now and will be 32xat least 55 when done.
Plenty of room to separate if the need arises.
And we plan on getting rid of the roosters except 2.
So it can get better? Good to know.
I've been giving away some hens with a rooster to a couple of friends. I actually had 6 now 5 and in a week I'll have 4.
I have about 55-60 new babies. I have some out in crates in the coop hoping to introduce them someday. One flew out when I was putting...
I have 47 chickens, 5 of which are roosters. Which I read is a good ratio. They are are now 9 months old but this situation has been going on for a couple of months now.
The roosters are tearing up the hens!
They are missing their feathers on their backs, tails, back of the neck, they are...
Especially since the little ones where the ones sticking there heads out not the other way around. We actually changed the whole thing to big rabbit cages that the metal bars are closer together where the littler ones can't stick their heads out. And they stack so I was able to separate them to...
They are now in rabbit cages the wire is closer together and that stack so they have more room. They aren't really at the age to be outside in any kind of enclosure.
I would think that if it was a rat or weasel they would have gone for the loose big chi Ken's, not the ones in a cage that were harder to get to.
Also weasels would have killed a lot of birds just for the fun of it.
We used to live in NH where they would say your best crop is rocks. New ones would come up all the time. Sometimes you'd start digging to get a rock move only to find its tge biggest boulder underneath, lol.
I actually love rocks? Great backdrops for your garden.
They are inside the coop in a large dog crate surround by hens and roosters. This last one had no sign of damage. The last one happened in the middle of the day and looked like a hen had gotten her and tried to pull her through the cage.
I think I'm doing something wrong.
My whole 7 acres has no stones. Amazing, I know, but it's what's called black dirt, like pure clay that gets as hard as cement and cracks in the heat of the summer.
In fact here you have to water your foundation otherwise the cracks can go under your house and uplift your house and that takes...
I had another one gone this morning. She was inside the crate. Some feathers missing on the side if her neck but no apparent wounds.
It appears she might have broken her neck.
I found her about 3-4" away from the side of the crate. I have a branch going through so they can perch, a hanging food...
So I have some chicks that were too big for the booder but too small to enter the flock. So we put them in a large dog crate in the chicken coop with a shield of about 4-5" on the bottom sides so that they were protected but could be seen by the older birds hoping that it would help them to...
