Here are some more pictures- SHE STILL HAS HER EYE! :celebrate
We're going to go get some more sterile saline for cleaning and compresses and I've got Terramycin eye ointment on its way- hooray for next day shipping, right?
Something good that has come out of this is Lenore has always been one...
Also, in the video those poor chooks had GINORMOUS swollen eyes, her's is flush with her skull and kind of sunken in.
I'll get a bunch more pictures in the morning.
Thank you!
Thank you for the advice!
I don't mind "icky" at all, I just want my gals to be happy and healthy.
One thing that sort of makes me nervous is it seems like anytime I've seen in a forum an eye injury, everyone starts screaming "CORYZA! OMG!" and it makes me scared for the rest of my flock!
Could...
This is our Ameracuana, Lenore. She is 7 months old and healthy aside from our obvious problem.
I noticed this afternoon that Lenore's eye is just... gone?
Looking at the pictures, does it seem to you all like she's just lost an eye? I know, it's not JUST an eye, but I mean instead of something...
Thank you for your advice! At least it'll be easy to keep her off of it/keep it clean with her glued to the nest.
Gah, things like bumblefoot freak me right OUT! I had no idea it was a thing.
Hi, I was wanting some advice- this is our black cochin bantam. She's 1 year old and in great health. She has not been limping or acting out of sorts at all.
I make it a practice to check our flocks' feet every few weeks as they are free range and I want to head off any problems. Everything is...
Hey everyone, I wanted to do an update!
So Rita hatched her one lonely egg, and we snuck in some babies the next day! They are a happy little family blissfully occupying the bungalow.
Hey there! I succumbed to the siren song of peeping chicks at Farm and Home and came home with chicks. 😂
So the chick in question was supposed to be a cinnamon queen (my son picked her out, her name is Jasper) but looking around the internet- this does not look like a cinnamon queen. There were...
Oof, I hope it wouldn't be regular! My poor girl! 😂
She's the sweetest little thing, so patient with the kids and follows me all around "just hanging out" as my son says.
We're NEW (in our first year) at the whole chicken owning thing, so please bear with me.
So here's my weird question- could a bantam have laid the middle egg in the picture?
My Silver laced Wyandotte lays the darker brown egg in the picture, so I don't think it's hers, my other two standard...
Aw. Thank you! This little bungalow is like Fort Knox, and I made a little ladder so they can go up and down. Dob you think she'll be lonely or too cold on her own?
Oh trust me, I HATE this coop. We're starting our build for the new, proper coop in the next few weeks. Chalk it up to beginner chicken owners (which we are) learning as we go (which we're doing). We're in our first year and it's definitely been a steep learning curve for me.
Thankfully the...
Hi everyone!
So Rita (bantam Silkie/buff Cochin cross) has decided to become a screeching pancake. I don't mind if she wants to set eggs, but I'm at a loss of what to do to make her successful.
We have our pre-made coop that everyone uses, but I also acquired a very small coop/maybe a rabbit...
You know, that's an absolute possibility. I'm definitely going to check that out! I've kind of been thrown into this whole chick hatching thing.
The little guy is alllllll fluffed out and snuggling his punkin. I just hope he'll get some pals to snuggle as well!
