I’ve been using Stall Fresh in my 2 small (tractor supply) coops. I have separate nesting boxes so they only sleep (and poop) in the coops. The Stall Fresh is for horse barns but it says it’s safe for chickens, rabbits, etc. It’s easy to clean with a cat litter scoop and the dust is less than...
Thank you! I was quite disappointed when I ordered 3 Black Copper Marans and 3 Black Austrolorps and ended up with 4 Austrolorps and 2 grey birds, so I’m happy that I at least got a couple Marans even if not the Black ones.
Another question regarding what was SUPPOSED to be 2 of 3 BCM….i wonder if they’re Blue Copper Marans but I’m not really seeing any copper yet. No feathers on feet or legs, which I know could have been bred out of them. They are 16 weeks. Any clues? Are the Marans or something else? I’m...
I was a little disappointed when I first discovered that I didn’t get the BCM that I intended but you are right, these Australorps are very sweet! I think I’ll be enjoying they just fine.
I really hope so because this bird is just the sweetest but I don’t need 2 Roos less I keep 2 flocks which just means double everything. My current Roos gets mighty uptight when there is another Roo around!
This particular bird has been red for about 2 weeks. It was the only one that would come to me when I entered the run and then one day I realized how much more red the comb and waddles were than the other 3. There hasn’t been any attempt at crowing and the tail feathers don’t arc like other...
Also, now that I’m checking out other posts, these may be BCM but without feathered feet. I’m a little confused because when I looked up pics of chicks, the BCM and black Australorpe look the same as chicks. As they grew I have 4 that stayed black and 2 that turned grey. I may need to get...
I purchased 15 chicks from Atwood’s. 3 of each breed all supposed to be pullets. So I should have had included in the 15, 3 black australorps and 3 black copper marans. I ended up with 4 black australorpe and I’m assuming 2 blue copper marans. So that was only slightly disappointing. But...
Well, I did it again but this time it wa totally organic….I have roo now so when my Delaware went broody, I just let her do her thing. Out of 5 eggs, I got 2 hatches. They are currently 8 weeks old. One hatched 5/24 and one hatched 5/26. I think I have 1 cockerel and one pullet but I’d like...
I have flies in the chicken run but none in the coops or in the food buckets. I use vanilla scented car fresheners in the food buckets and I haven had a fly inside those ever since. I didn’t really think it would work but it does! And in my coops I use stall dry (similar to sweet PDZ but not...
