Ducks 'waddle'. Chickens have wattles.

My chickens waddle a bit when they run, makes me chuckle

Australorp hens have pretty large combs and wattles and my limited experience is that pullets grow them pretty early and may even get some color to them early. But they color up more when they get closer to point of lay. Since you want a hen, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. And I have found Australorps to be very friendly hens.

I was a little disappointed when I first discovered that I didn’t get the BCM that I intended but you are right, these Australorps are very sweet! I think I’ll be enjoying they just fine.

Another question regarding what was SUPPOSED to be 2 of 3 BCM….i wonder if they’re Blue Copper Marans but I’m not really seeing any copper yet. No feathers on feet or legs, which I know could have been bred out of them. They are 16 weeks. Any clues? Are the Marans or something else? I’m adding several pics of them so you can see them from different angles. I tried to get the best lighting possible.

They look like Blue Copper Marans to me *shrug* but the "copper" isn't necessarily very noticeable especially if these weren't bred for coloration. Mine has a little bit of copper up towards her face but that's all, and it came in quite late. She has very slightly feathered shanks too, but not all Blue Copper Marans have feathered legs.

Thank you! I was quite disappointed when I ordered 3 Black Copper Marans and 3 Black Austrolorps and ended up with 4 Austrolorps and 2 grey birds, so I’m happy that I at least got a couple Marans even if not the Black ones.
