Is this depluming mite? Pic included

@Sue Gremlin Sorry, I know this is an old post, but I think I have a depluming mite issue with my chickens. Are the photos of depluming mites or some other type of parasitic mite? I'd like to take a skin scraping and take a peak at it under a microscope at home to confirm if I can, but I can't...

Is this vent gleet? WARNING: Vent Photos

They were fine with her yesterday when I put her out with them to free range! I let them free range daily for a few hours in the late afternoon/evening. I brought her in at night though so I can monitor her more closely and that seemed to work out well. Also making a mash with her feed worked...

Is this vent gleet? WARNING: Vent Photos

Before I separated her she was out and about with the flock feee ranging and all. She could still get up on her roost just fine. I’ll try putting her back out there, hopefully that will cheer her up. Thank you for the tip with the rice and buttermilk, I have never heard that before.

Is this vent gleet? WARNING: Vent Photos

I know That is true. I hope it isn’t anything reproductive. They were dewormed around 3 months ago. At this point her poop is basically water. She’s also not eating her regular feed at all. I have been giving her eggs and canned cat food just so she eats SOMETHING. But when she gets that stuff...

Is this vent gleet? WARNING: Vent Photos

Thank you for your reply. I will try the NuStock for comfort until I can find out why she’s having all this diarrhea and what that huge bulge is. I was really hoping it was vent gleet because I know I can help her with that :/

Is this vent gleet? WARNING: Vent Photos

I am looking for some guidance so that I may help my poor little Delilah. She is an almost 1.5 year old Partridge Cochin. She started out with some pasty butt, looser than normal stools, but nothing crazy. I would wash her bum, put some ACV in the water, honestly I didn’t think too much about...

    Scaly Leg Mites? 1st Timer

I don’t know if I’m looking too much into this, but is this perhaps early stages of scaly leg mites? They are only on 2 of my 4YO Plymouth Rocks. Is something else maybe wrong with their feet/legs or am I just overthinking? Also not sure if this is dry comb due to the cold weather here or...

    Dulcolax confusion.........BEWARE.

Hi @casportpony, I know this is an old thread and an old post, but I would be thrilled if you would teach me how to do this. I have an almost 4YO broad rock hen that is having some serious crop issues 😔. I don’t know if my girl is dehydrated because her poops are extremely watery, were yours...

    Do egg bound hens poop?

Thank you for this! I’m going through this right now. My 6-7 month old Houdan is acting egg bound, but is still pooping. I’m afraid to check her vent with my finger as I don’t want anything to get pushed further inside and if she’s pooping I highly doubt I’d feel anything anyway. My fiancé did...

    Lethargic and Watery Droppings

Excellent! The Valbazen works the same way (it is not water soluble), but it’s a liquid you have to give them using a syringe. Even so, I would think the Safeguard paste will still be easier to administer like you said. You shouldn’t need the Baytril for worms, but not a bad idea to order it now...

Chicken Feet - Normal or Not Normal?

I need a little advice. I have a 3&1/2 YO Plymouth Rock hen, Winnifred, that is going through a HARD molt right now. I noticed her legs and feet looked much paler than those of her sisters and I believe her feet look a little swollen. I have never seen bumblefoot in person before, but it doesn't...

    Lethargic and Watery Droppings

@Bigfishbobby I am by no means a vet, but here is my 2 cents and I truly hope it helps you. Green diarrhea indicates that your chicken isn't eating nearly as much as it should. I have also read that bright green diarrhea could be a sign of coccidia. Because of the "rice like" bits you're seeing...

    Tiny lash egg?

She is. Lethargic, dull, diarrhea, she did have doughy crop at first, but eating or drinking as much. However she seems to be doing a little better. Still lethargic and dull, but she has been eating and drinking. I got her chick starter feed and hydro-hen the other day and she’s loving that. I...

    Tiny lash egg?

Thank you SO much for your input. Luckily I was able to order some Baytril a moment ago. Shipping says 2 business days. I hope it's not too late for my Blanche. Would you happen to know when I should start seeing improvements if there are any to be made? I want to try and save her if I can...

    Tiny lash egg?

@GRB73 Hi, I know this was a while ago, but did you ever get an answer to what was going on with your Wyandotte? I have a 3.5yo Plymouth Rock going through the same thing right now. There were 2 other masses that looked like this (a little bigger though, maybe the size of a pea) one about 3...

What is this thing that came out of my chicken? I think some sort of egg?

@EggSighted4Life I cut it open last night and it looks like just a solid mass. I’m not sure if that means anything. It was pretty hardened, but it was also wrapped in a puppy pad for like 24 hours. On the bright side of things, Blanche has perked up quite a bit! She is eating normally. Last...

What is this thing that came out of my chicken? I think some sort of egg?

I do have the calcium citrate at home. I will start that tonight. We throw out the oyster shells every once in a while. I just got a small chick feeder actually and put that out there for them, but they knocked it over and it went everywhere. I have to find a way to secure it somehow so they...

What is this thing that came out of my chicken? I think some sort of egg?

I have not… I rolled up the puppy pad and threw it in the trash bag I have near her crate, but I will dig it out and cut it open if I have to later this afternoon/evening when I get home from work! In the meantime, thank you for the articles. I’ll take a look at them.

What is this thing that came out of my chicken? I think some sort of egg?

I was afraid of that… do you know if there’s anything I can do to help fix it?
