    Is this an egg remnant?

Update about the egg issue. Today, she just started laying again after the previous egg remnant. But this new egg is tiny compared to her previous eggs (and a bit malformed too). I put it next to our other duck's (normal) egg in the picture. Anyway, it looks like a good sign that she'll be back...

    Is this an egg remnant?

Thank you for sharing your experience! She does indeed take breaks from egg laying. We mix ground up oyster shells into their food, and she also has an extra bowl of just oyster shell grind next to the water bucket, which she eats from every now and then.

    Is this an egg remnant?

When I took it out of the water, it was like a snotty blob wrapped around the twig. In the water, you can see its shape. I already tossed it and cleaned the tub. Our duck seems to be fine, though. No signs of pain or discomfort. She acts like she always does.

    Is this an egg remnant?

Hi duck-loving community, Today, after letting our Pekin duck take a bath, we found something in the water that looks like what might be some remnants of an egg that never developed. It's an elongated, translucent, almost transparent, soft and slimy substance of about 3 to 4 inches long and a...

Need advice for re-homing domestic ducks in California (Bay Area)

Thank you for the suggestion of reconsidering Craigslist; I'll check it out, keeping your caution in mind and the idea of actually charging a bit more than what they would be worth in poulterer. It looks like you have created a paradise for your ducks! Please let me know if you are willing to...

Need advice for re-homing domestic ducks in California (Bay Area)

I was a little skeptical about Craigslist, but had not considered Nextdoor. Great suggestion! And I will definitely double and triple check anyone who says they are willing to take them in. Too many shady people out there, who just want a free meal... :(

Need advice for re-homing domestic ducks in California (Bay Area)

Thank you for the kind words and all the great suggestions! These are definitely things to consider. :) We do have a rescue center that accepts waterfowl in a nearby city, but they are full too, and also only allow city residents (you have to sow your ID).

    Bay Area BYCers!

    Bay Area BYCers!

Thank you for your quick response! We probably could hold a couple for a few days, but I'm a little bit skeptical about Craigslist. We tried Facebook groups too, but the only responses we got were from people who also post pictures of roasted ducks on their profiles! :( So that's a big no no...

Hi everyone! I posted this yesterday in the general forum, but was told that I might have more luck in this thread specifically for the SF Bay Area. I'm posting here in the hope of getting some suggestions and directions for finding a new home for the abandoned domestic ducks at the pond in...

Need advice for re-homing domestic ducks in California (Bay Area)

Hi everyone! I'm posting here in the hope of getting some suggestions and directions for finding a new home for the abandoned domestic ducks at the pond in our neighborhood park. Sadly, people have dumped several domestic ducks (Pekin, Muscovy, Swedish, crested ducks, and a few mixed breeds)...
