She ended up sleeping in the nest box but I had taken all the eggs including the demo eggs and by the next morning she was over it lol 🤷🏼♀️
I’m keeping my eye on her now though!
Hi all my 7 month old Steele egger from Meyer Hatchery (hybrid) I think has gone broody. She’s been sitting in the nesting box all day and yelling at me all puffed up when I open the box.
My question is what do I do? No rooster and no intention of adding to the flock at this time (small...
Hey all happy Sunday! I recently found out my splash ameracauna hen is actually a rooster, and unfortunately I’m not allowed to have any roosters in my neighborhood. Hand raised since day old chick very friendly with me, my one year old and the other hens. If interested please message me! 🐓 I’m...
Hi all I got my first set of chickens from Meyer Hatchery on June 24 this year. So far my green queen has turned out to be a rooster, and now I’m suspicious that my Steele rigger is also a rooster. They are 19 weeks today, and it’s definitely the skittish of the group and avoids me for the most...
Oh no now I’m really worried! I’ll post some closer pics when I get home, but now I’m curious why no one thinks it’s a green queen? Is it common for hatcheries to send the wrong breed? All my other breeds are accounted for so she has to be a green queen but I know they are a newer hybrid so...
Hello, I purchased a set of all female chicks from Meyer hatchery this summer. Today they are 14 weeks old exactly and my green queen was crowing at dawn repeatedly! It startled me and now I’m suspicious she’s actually a rooster 😢
I can’t find any online pictures of what a green queen rooster...
Hi I know this is an old thread but I have a 14 week old green queen chick from a hatchery that is suppose to be female but has started crowing. How did yours turn out? Thanks!
I checked her foot and leg I don’t see any cuts or sticking out at odd angles. I honestly can’t find anything other than she’s limping and her one wing is sagging but she can run if need be and hop and fly it’s very strange
My four week old green queen chick was limping yesterday and seems to have a fallen wing. She’s eating and drinking but very sedatary which is odd since she’s usually the alpha.
Does anyone know what’s wrong with her and how can I help??
They are in my house (which is air conditioned) But in a small closet with a stand up heater and a brooder heater plate - unfortunately I don't have a window I can open to acclimate them better
I’m Georgetown! I want them to free range when I’m home but when I’m at work during the day they have a caged run. It’s completely shaded at all times even if some sun pokes though at the edge they still have plenty of shade. It’s also sand base because I read that was cooler. I’m just not sure...
Oh wow that’s interesting, this is my first time with Orpington hens (accidentally hatched rooster lavender Orpington before) and I was worried because she still is so tiny - but that’s good to know I will worry less now thank you!
At what point is it okay for them to be out there full time? They don’t have much space indoors due to my baby and dog and I want to make sure they get enough space/exercise without them overheating while they are young
I live in central Texas and it’s summertime, which means it’s extremely hot and humid. My chicks are three weeks old and starting to go in their run during the day to run around and get used to it. However today I put them out at 2-3 and they immediately started to pant with their beaks open. I...
I did the egg yolk all day and the next day she was much better! She is still very small and seems to get much colder than the other so I bought a second brooder heater pad I can lower down more for her and it seems to help
