I 100% agree with Eggcessive, but in a severe case I experienced, just the tylan powder did not resolve the ilness(es) and the combination antibiotics did. Makes you cringe to have to toss all of those eggs, but yes - they must go. You could always try the Tylan first.
I have 19 adult hens, 2 adult roos. 31 4-5 month old hens- I'm sure there are no roos in there and they are not laying yet. 15 5 week old- I know there are at least 6 roos in there. They are not mingled yet, but are fence to fence. All 3 groups have their own barn / coop and very large run. They...
I do not plan on breeding any of this flock. However I do want to keep them around as I love them very much! I live on a very large farm and have multiple sites for chicken purposes... if i were to breed it would be on untouched soil far away with brand new chicks. When I added new chicks back...
Thank you for the info!
What do you think about it for an existing flock that are now carriers - I added chicks back in April and then my older flock was diagnosed with MG last month. I do not plan to breed this flock, but if I could prevent the young birds from getting it that would be great...
Thinking about breeding...
Don't want to ever sell a chick that could ever possibly transfer MG to their flock...
Would they test positive after vaccination because of the vaccine containing live virus?
If an 8 -10 week old chick already had MG, what would happen if they were vaccinated...

I am so confused on how to administer this... I've been told several different ways. Mixing with water, then in food and giving it to them once, and again in 7-10 days. Then I've seen .25 ml per pound orally for 3-5 days. And another way to mix in waterers... Which is the best and most effective...
Hello! I'm wondering about putting a red light in my coop at night - so that the girls and I can see. Its a large barn - I've tried to research it, but I'm getting mixed information about it. I'd love some expert advice please! My 50+ hens range from 5 weeks to 16 months and 4 grannies that are...
I'm a newer chicken mamma, I've had my girls over a year now. 20 hens, 2 roo's. I just got 31 more chicks between 1 and 2 months old. They are in two separate coops and runs, but the babies are on ground that the older chickens once were. I noticed the other day the white specks in one of me...
