That makes the decision to take it to a wildlife center. Thanks!

    Turkey or peafowl?

To my surprise, I found this little one in my backyard this afternoon. We have no turkeys or peacocks in my neighborhood, so I don’t know how to explain this. My question is, is it a turkey or a peacock? I want to make sure I take care of it properly.

    Lavender Orpington- hen vs roo?

Both were roosters! Had to get rid of them both unfortunately.

Anyone know what breed these are?

Hi everyone! As my batch of tractor supply chicks are getting bigger (roughly 7 weeks), I’m wondering if they mixed up the signs on these. The first was advertised as a production blue. Could it be a blue laced red Wyandotte? The second was advertised as an Ameraucana. The other ones I have...

    Marek’s?

So far other eye is the same. No changes whatsoever. Cloudy eye is still the same too.

    Marek’s?

Good point! My husband said he noticed it awhile ago (so days to months). The other eye is totally fine. She is fine also, no strange behaviors; plus she’s eating and laying.

    Marek’s?

Also forgot to mention the flock did have foul pox in November 2024 (as per my last post). Could it be from that?

    Marek’s?

I just noticed yesterday that one of my Red sex links has an eye that is cloudy and has a small pupil. She’s completely fine otherwise- active, eating, laying, seems happy. I just happened to notice it. A friend was worried about Marek’s. What do you guys think? And if it is Marek’s, is my whole...

    Spots on face?

Just noticed these spots on one of my hen’s face just now. We are located in Northern California and recently had lots of rain. Could it be mold? Or does it signify something more serious? TIA

    Breed?

So sad! Thank you! I was only allowed a certain amount of chickens per my husband this year. This was my shot. Oh well, maybe next year!

    Breed?

Thank you. I’m bummed. So she definitely won’t lay blue eggs?

    Breed?

Does this mean she won’t lay blue eggs? I’m bummed, but also excited for the speckled Sussex! I didn’t think of this breed to add to my flock.

    Breed?

I got several pullet chicks from our local tractor supply, 2 of which were Easter eggers. I’m convinced the 2nd is a roo, but now I’m not sure they are Easter eggers. Our previous Easter eggers had the chipmunk cheeks and different coloring. Could this be a speckled Sussex? Maybe I need some...

Is this discoloring a sign of sickness?

One of my hens used to be black with a green sheen to it, now she is mostly brown. Is this normal for end of summer and being outside or a sign of sickness? None of my other birds have this.

    Lavender orpington

I posted about 5 weeks ago about my LOs. They are now about 14-16 weeks old. They are much larger than the rest of my flock. Any ideas? Hens vs Roos? They look identical in terms of feather shape, but one is a little lighter than the other.

    Any safe insecticides?

Thank you for this information. I guess the next step is the exterminator.

    Any safe insecticides?

Yes human house. Seems like they’re coming inside more now, maybe because the chickens are eating them outside?

    Lavender Orpington- hen vs roo?

These are my first Orpington babies. I inherited my buffs when they were over a year old and already laying. Thank you for that information!!
