4-6 day old chick with dark swelling under skin near vent

She has since passed. The spot was under her skin and swollen like a bruise of sorts. No one had been picking on her. My best guess is some sort of internal injury from hatching/shipping to TSC. RIP little chicky. 😪😪😪

4-6 day old chick with dark swelling under skin near vent

Got a white leghorn pullet at TSC on 4/10. So probably 4-6 days old now. After a day I noticed she was a little off and had a swollen dark area on her lower left rear area a little below her vent. She also had a black scab over her umbilical. Later that day I noticed blood in her stool and...

HELP ASAP! Egg Bound with Prolapse

Thank you. She wasn't alone when she went. I was on the phone with the doctor who was right there with her when she crossed over so I was also there with her in a way. She was one of my first hatchlings. She will be missed.

HELP ASAP! Egg Bound with Prolapse

Unfortunately my little love passed this morning from respiratory distress. They could not get her stabilized enough to remove her prolapsed egg. She did have a secondary egg as well in the x-rays they took. Looking back she did have some breathing issues as a baby chicka but they seemed to...

I ended up finding an emergency vet for poultry. She needs surgery to get it out. No word on her condition yet.

HELP ASAP! Egg Bound with Prolapse

Any idea what I could do to try and help? I think I see where the exit is but it's so small. There is also a thin area where it seems like the egg looks and feels stuck to her internally.

HELP ASAP! Egg Bound with Prolapse

I've read through everything I could find on here and I couldn't find my situation. I have a new laying hen, this may have been her first egg. She's egg bound with the egg in the prolapse. I've been able to push it back in but she keeps straining to push it back out. I've given her calcium...

    Continued Lethargy After Deworming

Continued slow improvements here. No open mouth breathing. Has her excited food face back. Eating a better variety. I truly feel I brought her back from death. Still looks anemic but I've read that takes some time to recover from. My Ruthie baby!

    Continued Lethargy After Deworming

Hopeful update today. Her open mouth breathing has mostly stopped! I've been treating for sour crop using monistat so maybe that has been helping. I'm still being cautious of her prognosis but I'll take any change that seems positive.

    Continued Lethargy After Deworming

She's still with us but not improving. Lots of open mouth breathing. She will eat eggs, crickets, blueberries, and some of her feed. Using Rooster Booster in her water. Had been using Nutridrench too. Poops are watery but clear with small solids and white ureates. It's been 9 days since I...

    Continued Lethargy After Deworming

Her mouth breathing seems to have stopped. She's still eating eggs and drinking water. A little improvement in the color of her comb and wattles but still not bright like they should be. Would giving corid just in case be beneficial in any way?

    Continued Lethargy After Deworming

My 3 year old Buff Orpington hen has been very lethargic after I dewormed her using Valbazen. I initially decided to deworm due to her being lethargic. After deforming she did pass cecal and roundworm in her poops. Since then, 2-3 days, she has still been lethargic and has now become wobbly...

Lethargic, minimal eating/drinking, orange string in poop (pics)

Coming back to this. She was just fine the next day so I think it was the heat that got to her. Now I'm extra militant about keeping them cool and it has been really hot here this week.

Lethargic, minimal eating/drinking, orange string in poop (pics)

She does. I was able to get her to take the 2nd round of Valbazen soaked in bread. I'll soak some of her feed in electrolyte water and see what happens.

Lethargic, minimal eating/drinking, orange string in poop (pics)

Hi All, My 1 yr old Buff Orpington started acting lethargic this afternoon. She will just stand in a spot and close her eyes. Earlier in the day she was acting fine. It has been hot here the last 2 days but she's had access to shade, ice water, misters, and fans. Her eyes are clear. I...
