    Anyone noticing an unusually poor November egg production?

    My 3 hens quit laying for about 5 weeks just now starting to get 1 egg a day We live in central IL and pullets are about 7 mos. this is my 1st yr with chxs Also any suggestions on how to get them to use nesting boxes? they lay right beside on floor.

    Thank-you so much for replying. there have been more feathers. didn't realize they were old enough to molt. what do you give for protein?

    why would chalky white start showing up on brown eggs?( I just switched from starter to Purina laying feed I'm a new chicken mom. Also ; have had a few soft translucient eggs and the hens haven't beed laying as regularly chickens won't be 1 yr till April tho
