    Chicken won’t open her eye

Sorry about no interaction. Christmas and all. I hope your girl is better. I would use the ointment if it were my bird.

    Chicken won’t open her eye

Please do make sure you dry her completely if she remains out in the cold air. I hope she feels better soon.

    Chicken won’t open her eye

She may still be in shock. Is she eating/drinking? Look her over well and make sure she has no hidden injuries. She might recover better in a warm dark room for a day or two. Or in a quiet separated area of your coop (dog crate draped with a cover) that lets her no worry about others while...

    Corid protocol

Sorry, I read that as "given vitamins AFTER corid". Thanks for the clarification @dawg53

    Corid protocol

I have often read on this sight that vitamins afterwards are not necessary if you are giving them a balanced feed. You can choose to if you want it won't hurt. I tried to give mine vitamins in their water but they refused to drink it bc of the smell.

After Injury - Chicken Stopped eating

I don't know about OTC pain meds for chickens. I have read that aspirin can be given at low dosage, but there are risks. Meloxicam seems to be the go to for poultry, but, again, I am unfamiliar with it. I will tag someone who is a lot more knowledgeable about such things. @Wyorp Rock, can...

11 week old chick standing in corner with eyes closed

I don't know why it is doing that: I will just copy the text. Undiluted Corid or amprollium can be given as a boost dose once or twice a day at 0.1 ml per pound of weight. But it is always given in the water as well. Dosage is 2 tsp of the Corid liquid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of...

Post #11 of this tread talks about direct dosage. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/scary-amount-of-bloody-diarrhea-just-left-the-avian-vet-with-phosphorus-and-negative-stool-sample-tests-for-parasites-and-cocc-please-help.1675635/page-2#post-28809149

11 week old chick standing in corner with eyes closed

Here is my thread about dosing my flock. I used the liquid (note the powder form has a different measurement). No vitamins during treatment. You can give it after and between, but you feed should supply all they need. My flock wouldn't touch the vitamin water, so I skipped that part. The...

After Injury - Chicken Stopped eating

If she is not eating on her own you will need to keep feeding her until she does. Sounds like she is with the flock. Is she being bullied away from the feed trays? Chickens are awfully mean others who seem lame or sick. It is a survival instinct. If her leg is still hurting her you...

My hens eye is swollen. Not sure of the cause! Help!

Amazon sells many brands of this product. Where are you, generally? CA requires a prescription, most other states do not. Jedd's sells it too, but just check and they are sold out.

Chicken passed mass that looks like meat

That looks like lash material. It is usually a yellow or brown color, but can also be red. @Eggcessive is probably better to confirm.

Yes. Any way he will take them. The egg has selenium in it to help with the uptake of the vit e. You need ever little, hence the egg suggestion as a tablet is way too much.

Sorry your hen is not well. Do you have a large dog crate that she can be in and be among the flock. Perhaps in the middle of the run where the others can see her but not touch her? May need hardward cloth reinforcement up the sides as far as the hens can peck through. This was she is close...
