    I feel silly asking. How do you check? I apologize and thank you for your help. As a child we had chickens. Just regular old white chickens that were a farm staple. As I said above, I'm relatively new to backyard chicken raising in adult life and I had no idea that chickens had so many issues 😁

    Ok..on scratch & peck. I had not heard that before. And yes, we mix our feeds. We always have and have always had consistent egg laying behavior. The "egg eating" is a new behavior.

    In the last 4 days we were suddenly down to 1 egg a day (from 5). This morning when hubby went out for morning release he caught the little buggers eating eggs. It's our 1st experience with this behavior. Any thoughts? ps..yes they get oyster shell supplements
