Unfortunately little fighter passed away peacefully yesterday… we tried our best but it wasn’t enough this time. The baby is at a better place now though :,) -

He’s alive! he hasn’t been opening his eyes since they have cataracts in them, and he’s been struggling walking as well… the belly has a clot formed so it looks like it is healing. he’s just been lying down -

all done. It’s paddling around, legs don’t seem to work. the belly also has an open wound and it is not moving well. it’s a little fighter, but it has cataracts and doesn’t react to any light at all. i’m 90% sure it’s blind, but i’ve never brought up a blind duckling before and i have brought up...- duckyfei

The little one was foamy in the mouth and nose with some mucus this morning, so I took only the top half of it out, did NOT break any blood vessels at all. He ended up SQUIRMING himself out just a couple minutes ago… the yolk hasn’t completely absorbed, so i’ve just left him in the incubator...- duckyfei

it definitely has been trying and pushing. I’ve taken only the top half of the little one out, left him in tact with the shell and rest. hopefully that’s alright… i’m worried he’s born blind though 🥲 -

yep! i’ve done that. some mucus stuff keeps coming out of the duckies nostrils and mouth though… not sure if that’s normal or not i’ve never seen it before -

another update, contacted an aunt of mine and she said it was shrink wrapped so suggested i only take out the top half of its body. the little baby was also foaming at the mouth a bit, but it’s still breathing…. that exactly what I did. the babies eyes seem to have white spots inside them... -

It has been yawning and nibbling, so i assume it’s still absorbing yolk. it feels SUPER wet and sticky inside the egg though, little duckling nibbles and sometimes ends up producing some sticky bubbles. it’s still pushing and wiggling, moving around, but the egg inside smells fishy and kind of... -

oh yes it indeed is my first time ever hatching. such a nerve racking experience, both excitement and heartbreak. it’s unpredictable! thank you heaps for your help though, and i’ll let you know how the little one is tomorrow!- duckyfei

Thanks heaps. I didn’t mention that that duckling takes up a huge part of the egg… and the egg is one of the smaller ones, like the size of a chicken egg. i’m worried it might not be able to breathe well- duckyfei

Hi guys, it’s 12am here and i have early work tomorrow but this little one has me extremely worried, any quick replies are super appreciated. it’s beak is outside of the egg and it keeps pushing upwards, like he wants to squirm out. there’s still HUGE blood vessels on the other side of the egg...- duckyfei

We found another one that was barely alive, pipped internally and made a hole at the top and miracle it was alive! it’s a huge duckling for its egg size… it’s 12am here and it keeps pushing hard in this one single spot! making this huge hole… is it alright? should i leave it… it looks a bit... -

it was most likely alive… that egg was the only other internally pipped one (apart from the one i took inside that was also externally pipped) and it was peeping the night before :hit -

Mama seems to be quite aggressive as she always bites and me and runs at me, with her feathers fluffed up (this is ONLY when i’m around) even if i’m just doing gardening a good 10 meters away from her… she’s also rolled a couple of eggs out of her nest and crushed them… and most of them i... -

thanks heaps for your quick reply. Mama is a pekin, and very very moody and angry, refuses to go inside at all! I would definitely bring the babies inside as soon as they hatch as i have my brooder set up, but i’m afraid they will get crushed when they’re inside the egg or hatch when it’s around... -
