Rooster attacking my husband and I…

My husband the former vegan is watching videos about how to tame him. He wants to hold him down and all that. I really don’t have any interest in chasing him and grabbing him forcing him into submission. I’ve already had to kick him and everything else, I don’t see how bullying him is going to...

Rooster attacking my husband and I…

I have a very handsome frizzle bantam Cochin who was very sweet but has become suddenly a monster. He attacks my husband and I daily when we feed him or the hens daily. Snacks or just walking around, doesn’t matter. Problem is, he’s a great rooster. He herds the girls in at night, tells them...

Could this be EYP? Or just a membrane egg? Someone please advise?

Thank you for responding, this was kind of solid, there a membrane. I was at work, this is according to my husband. She ate that part while I was watching the video he took of this. I give them wheat bread, corn tortillas, flock party garden party, layer feed, meal worms and soldier flies. They...

Could this be EYP? Or just a membrane egg? Someone please advise?

Have a 4 1/2 month GC who quit laying 3 or 4 days ago but regularly tried to lay in hee usual spot. I noticed yesterday she was fluffed up and tail down and her butt was pulsating so we looked up egg bound and started doing epsom salt baths. We all put lube in a dropper up her as well and did...

4 month old GC quit laying but still sitting?

Hello! She actually I think may have some egg issue going on. We gave her an epsom salt bath and massaged her and put Ky jelly up her bum. She passed two poop last that look like they have egg in them. She even ate one of them. Should I be worried about EYP? I am so scared now.

4 month old GC quit laying but still sitting?

So my GC just started laying a few weeks ago and later everyday without fail. We added 3 pullets, 3 months old roughly and she was the only hen and she was invited them in with open arms. She was laying in a nesting box until they came and then decided they were too noisy and chose a spot in the...

Putting the little ones in with the big ones, questions about bantams...

The little ones are around 8 weeks I think. I got them in an emergency situation where the person couldn’t care for them anymore. My coop is probably 8x8 so not small but very tall. The babies all sleep in the house right now, the bantams in one box the bigger Roos in another. Should I get rid...

Putting the little ones in with the big ones, questions about bantams...

Okay, so I have 1 golden comet, 1 barred rock, 1 RIR and an ISA brown all under four months with a frizzle cochin and they are all finally on the same page. I have had the GC and the rooster for a couple months and just added the 3 month old pullets a few weeks ago and everyone seems to be...

    Tiny welsummer pullet and cockerel?

He is a Jersey giant! I would never have thought! Have 2 SLW’s and Easter egger (full-size) he was raised with and they are all roosters 😭. They run and play all day long and he is a little bigger than they are but they are almost feathered and he still has fluff. Which I thought was very odd. I...

    Tiny welsummer pullet and cockerel?

I was given 2 chicks and told they were welsummers. But every picture I have seen of a welsummer cockerel does not look like this boy. They are also very small like tiny, the size of my Cochin. Is this normal? Are they bantams? Are they even welsummers? I also have I think a cockerel black...

You are absolutely right. She was actually in there so she could lay another egg lol I found her and her the rooster eating cantaloupe with the 6 week old silver wyandottes! But the rooster was having a fit that she was in there and he was by himself and making a sound I had never heard before...

Broody golden comet and first egg? What to do!

So. My golden comet Lola has laid her first egg! She made an odd noise coming out her coop and lo and behold in her nesting box was a little brown egg. We were eggstatic! There were are only two chicken in our flock right now besides her boyfriend a frizzle Cochin named Tony. We took the egg in...

Please help me identify my fav baby!

Thank you. I’ve come to terms with it. He’s just going to be my handsome sweet roo and I’m going to keep him and see what happens. If he beats the heck out of my frizzle Cochin then we might make other plans but until then he has a forever home with us. The other six or seven, minus maybe the...

    Can I keep 8 roosters?

That’s definitely an idea. My land is big enough but the problem is the babies are all different ages and are kept in different brooders. Does that matter? They go out on little field trips when the weather is nice but they stay in their own groups that they know from their brooder. So this four...

    Can I keep 8 roosters?

Okay. This probably sounds crazy. I was given 11 baby chicks of various ages in an emergency situation. I had the land and this person was moving and couldn’t start her flock as planned. She had bought chicks from various places and now I have 8 suspected roosters. 2 polish Roos, 1 silkie roo (I...
