She is a cute bird, yes lavender too 😍 I keep calling her a she. Little flo, or “Florence” as she’s the smallest of my 3.
I’ve a black one too now turned green in tail and wings always been bigger and had hairy feet from the beginning. My Pekin cockerel heads to that one for a bit of fisty...
Hi all, have fun with this one
Still playing a sexing game with my silkie, 12 weeks old today, thought girl then boy and been back in circles 😂
Thanks
Jodi
Hi Miles,
I have an amazing breeder near me, Leicestershire UK
He’s been a godsend full of info and help! My polish is an absolute darling, she’s the most friendly first out, loves having a chat and turning into beautiful lavender white crested. We quite often refer to her as the dippy...
Thank you, I have braved it and turned it off, it is probably more me worrying. They might just use the heat as a comforter. I’ll watch the temperature tonight if it drops I will pop it back on. Night on day off for a couple of days?
They went outside on Monday whilst I cleaned them out, them stood shouting at me and one of the little silkies stood shivering 😬😂
It’s probably more me than them! It is Celsius but going to be dropping to minus again next week
The two pekins 4 weeks old and one silkie 5 weeks are roosting away from the heat, but still go back to it. The polish 5 weeks old and silkies 4 weeks still tend to sit under it snuggled together. That’s why I’m so confused 😬 such a mixed bag
Hi there,
I have a mixed bunch of Pekin, polish & silkie chicks between 4 & 5 weeks old. They are currently in home.
When is a good time to turn off their lamp our house averages 20 degrees Celsius most of the day.
Just ordered their coop and didn’t want to shock them by putting them...
I know it’s still too early to know for sure as they are only 2.5 weeks. But my two babies have a very different colour comb which has changed in a week! The size difference is very obvious between them. Also the feather shape on the wings are different. The pinker of the twos attitudes and...
Thank you! She is definitely independent at 3 weeks started to get out of the brooder when we are interacting. So glad it’s caged when we aren’t looking. Such a character. I’ll keep an eye she still snuggled up at night with the others
She is 3 weeks still very young. Still in brooder, she is the one with most character but seems to distance herself except for cuddles under the lamp for snoozing. She has been sexed so I can get another sexed from the same breeder
I have recently set up a brooder all going well with 2-3 week chicks. 3 silkie 2 Pekin 1 polish.
I am obsessed with watching them as they grow.
I am noticing the polish is distancing herself sometimes where the other breeds tend to stick together. Do I need another polish to keep her company...
Hi is your polish your only polish? Are you finding she keeps herself SEPERATE from the others I have 2-3 week old chicks and noticing the polish is pretty much on her own a lot where as the Pekin and silkies stick together.
Thanks
