Well I have been getting about 4 eggs a day. Haven't heard any crowing or seen any action for breeding. Hopefully they are all hens.

Making Lemonade [Selective Culling Project - very long term]

If it is cold out when you collect eggs I normally allow them to sit room temp with pointed side down in a carton for 24hrs before incubation. Seems to help. What is your drake to hen ratio? What is your humidity when incubating duck eggs?

Okay so I got these as eggs last year and hatched them out. They are all 8-9m old now. Came from a breeder and they all should all be purebreed. Number 1 Number 2 I am leaning towards hen. Number 3 Number 4 Number 5

    What breed is the rooster?

I was wonering about the barred feathers. That was throwing me off. There are also not many photos online that I could find about the color. I would like to hatch some chicks out from them. Do you know if the chicks would be the same color mostly? I know with some dilute colors you don't get the...

Official BYC Poll: Special Needs Poultry

Because her nubs are they same length she hobbles/walks around just fine. She is shorter than the rest of the chickens. I just have to ensure that her pen is kept clean and doesn't get muddy. We actually just moved them to my parents old lean-to coop and it is much better. They stay way dryer...

Official BYC Poll: Special Needs Poultry

It definitely has been a learning curve. I figure when it starts to get cold again I will probably have to wrap them to make sure she doesn't get anymore frostbite with them. I was actually thinking about trying to sew her some booties but just haven't figured out what would be best yet. I would...

Official BYC Poll: Special Needs Poultry

She normally walks just fine on the stubs. She does flap her wings to help her go faster if she wants to run towards something. Like a treat lol. She does occasionally get pressure sores. When she does I use vet wrap and gauze to make like a sock that covers her stump and up her legs. She...
