Here are the names of our 25 hens along with a picture that captures most of them. They're 22 weeks old except for Stealth. She just showed up one day in our run and they all act like she's always been part of the gang.

Appreciate the feedback. These are my first chicks/chickens and I couldn't just start with 4 or 5, I had to order 24 and received 3 extra so have 27. Getting a headstart on chicken math. lol
Moved 27 almost 5 week old chicks into the new coop yesterday. Have to add lower temporary roosts and add another window. Nesting boxes will get added in about 6 weeks. New feeder being hung tomorrow inside. Plan to start letting them out into the run next week, as soon as all the hardware cloth...
All 27 are doing great. I'm actually stunned at how much they've grown in 2 weeks. Have to finalize the outdoor coop in the next couple of days so I can move them out to their 8x12 Hen house. If I don't get it done quickly I'll have to split them up into a couple of other wire dog crates so...
I like your calculation of 4 birds per port. My concern is I have 27 chicks that are 10 days old, and 12-13 birds are feeding at a time. (The feeder has 28 ports). Should I go to 12 ports, or would 8 be enough in your experience? This is new to me, and I don't want any of them not getting enough...
Hi all, I'm a first time chick raiser. I have 24 chicks arriving tomorrow and think I'm ready, but don't know what I don't know. What I do know is from the dozens of threads I've read here. Brooder is a 6' x 2' puppy playpen on top of a table in the garage. Have a 19 1/2" x 12" heat plate...
Have 24 chicks coming in 11 days. Had no plans to name them. BUT, the grandkids have all stated that they absolutely ARE going to name them. LOL There are 6 grand kids and 7 breeds so they'll all get to name the 3 or 4 from each breed and the littles will each get an extra chick to name.
