Moved 27 almost 5 week old chicks into the new coop yesterday. Have to add lower temporary roosts and add another window. Nesting boxes will get added in about 6 weeks. New feeder being hung tomorrow inside. Plan to start letting them out into the run next week, as soon as all the hardware cloth is up.

You don't need temporary roosts, they can get on those just fine. They just don't usually know how to roost without an adult showing them first.

I had a couple of branches in their brooder that they roosted on. These are significantly higher at roughly 40" off the ground.

At 5 weeks they should be able to fly up regardless. I mean, it won't hurt any to add temporary roosts. Just trying to save you extra work.

Appreciate the feedback. These are my first chicks/chickens and I couldn't just start with 4 or 5, I had to order 24 and received 3 extra so have 27. Getting a headstart on chicken math. lol
