Took the duckling to the vet today and they cut off that portion of the bill. They said the break looks okay and that he or she should be alright!

That’s our concern as well. We’re going to try to get the duckling in to a vet to take a look at it and see if they think that broken piece should be cut (😳). I’ll keep everyone posted!

Thank you. They just became tall enough to stick their bills out of the crate over the cardboard walls I made, so those walls are getting bigger tonight! Do you think we should try to glue it or just leave it be to heal?

Oh man. Any advice on how to go about that? Do you put something between their bills or just use a really really small amount? Just regular super glue?

Hi @Miss Lydia - Another day, another duck problem 😩 My dog was quick and got one of their bills through the crate. I feel so bad! I’ve read they just heal on their own, just provide access to clean water. Anything else you advise?

Yeah, we’re not really sure where the injury is, but if you check out the video I posted after, it was already starting to try to walk normally, just didn’t want to fully put weight on that leg. Crazy to see after only one day!

We just took the wrap off for the first time today and the foot seems like it’s already starting to come forward. They’re having some bath time right now and in the tub she doesn’t really seem to use that foot, only seems it to glide around. Although we did see her move it once or twice...

Our local TSC didn’t have any vet wrap in stock, so we used medical self stick bandage. I’m not sure how similar they are, but I’m hoping we can find some vet wrap today at a pet store and that it’s a bit thinner than the medical wrap.
