Thanks for the reply I don't think they would dig into that as they free range Durning the day. I'm probably going to try the zeolite first. And if I find anything rubbery or so I would try it in our smaller coop.
They couldn't be broken at home down but I found one that's around 1mm which is like 0.04 inches that would probably be better right? And for the cleaning I usually use this sorta scapula with the zeolite it would probably be better to use a shovel? And my last concern is if it would get in the...
Thanks for the reply I just searched it up and found this I appearently it's around .25 inches per piece. It's quite cheap but I can't imagine what cleaning with this would be like. Any tips?
Forgot the link here it is also it's in my native language but the main thing is the image...
Thanks for the reply. Next time I'm buying something I'll probably ask the clerk at the store if they know anything about its composition. I'll also check if there is anything made of zeolite or maybe even if PDZ is in stock.
I hope that more research is done to make it clear what is safe to use...
And also I did a little researching right now and found that zeolite also contains crystalline silica. If I'm lying then correct me please but I think that PDZ is made from zeolite. I'm not sure though I use a respirator when working in the coop and with this stuff so if DE is dangerous in any...
About the DE I just said that on a whim as I was unsure and now that I went to look I can't really find anything on the bag and the internet all it says is that it is made of minerals. If you know this product or any similar ones could you confirm it is made from DE as I have heard that it is...
Hi thanks for the reply. We don't have the common open design coop. Our coop is just a place where the chickens sleep and we release them soon in the morning. They only sleep in the coop and therefore it is quite small. The door is quite hard to acces so I don't think poop boards would work. I'm...
Hello. I would like to ask if it would be possible to use a silicone mat at the bottom of a coop to catch all the feces and then you would simply roll it up and clean it outside? I use dry bedding so I thin this could work with it. Any opinions on this as I haven't seen any other people doing...
Very late update for anyone wondering. I opted for cutting it off, she kept severing it by digging around in ground and I was afraid it'd be a nuisance maybe even dangerous to have it hanging by a string like that. So I just cut it off with a box cutter, disinfected with iodine and a few weeks...
Update she's doing good, we decided to put her outside for a day and see how it goes. She has sa bandage with some tape so water doesn't get in and we'll check on her.
Ok I will change it this evening as for the tip she had a bit of her joint exposed but we managed to put it back into place and the tip of her toe is attached well so I think there is some chance the joints will fuse but I don't think she'll lose it.
Edit: any tips for pain killers we have...
She loves flying over to our backyard maybe she caught it on something. Otherwise I really don't know. I just hope if it's by her own cause she won't do it again
For now I'm going to sleep I'll check this in like 8 hours and then go to school
I was closing the coop for the night and I noticed there was blood on the floor and it was coming from her. When we got her inside we disinfected and patched with some bandages and sticks for support. She had and exposed joint but it wasn't fractured and we tried to put it as best into place. Do...
I do have DE. As for the vaseline as said I don't really have the time and patience to take each chicken every second day. I was speaking more along the lines of something a bit easier for flocks.
I got a whole flock about 15 chickens and only about 3 of them don't have mites. The leghorns seem to all have them, the ones I have seem quite susceptible to diseases. I wouldn't have the time and nerve to clean each ones feet and slather them up every second day. Is there any faster way? (Not...
