I have too many birds to do individual worming so I'll use levasole in the water. And I want to use ivermectin...

    Sick Peahens

Lice would make sense, her crazy behavior if definitely not normal jumpiness. The dusting thing is interesting because mine have dug holes fairly deep at times in this pen, but they haven't used them in a while and they've filled in with wood chips. Any idea why the rest of the flock might have...

    Male or Female?

Hmm spalding would complicate things but that barring still looks definitively male to me. Domerdoc if you could get pictures of the wings that would be helpful.

    Peafowl... Male or Female?!?!

Try to get clearer pictures of their backs/wings. The males will begin to show obvious barring compared to the the hens. I cannot be sure but in the bottom picture it looks like the bird on the left might be male and the one on the right female.

    Male or Female?

This is totally a male, at 4 months the barring on the wings is obvious.

    Sick Peahens

I do not know where to start but I have been dealing with sick peahens and am at my wits end trying to figure out what is wrong. The problems first started in late August/early September when I noticed one of the hens in my big pen had deteriorating feather quality, as if she wasn't preening...

    Odd Colored Chick

One of my hens hatched out a late clutch early this week. There are six chicks 2 white, 1 pied, 2 india blue split white/dp, and 1 chick that seems noticeably darker than the other two india blues. I may be wrong and the other two chicks might be lighter than normal but I don't think I've seen a...

    Genetic Ownership

Hey, So I have raised cornish crosses in the past and I know they usually don't make it to breeding age, and they don't breed true but on the off chance one made it to breeding age and I wanted to experiment with breeding them would there be any issues with genetic ownership. I know a lot of...

    Potential Problem in Processing

Hello all, earlier this summer (roughly 7 weeks ago) I purchased broiler chicks for the first time, and just processed the first half of them yesterday. I put them in ice water afterwards as all the guides recommend - but I am afraid i removed and froze them too quickly. I misunderstood and...

They are clearly BS but I suspect they are also something more. The story is that my dad got them from a business associate of his who didn't know anything...

    Using broody hens

I've been a bad bycer and haven't been on in a while but I'm back! I was wondering about using hens to incubate pea eggs, I have some a broody Orpington and an Australorp who seems like she's going to go broody and I was wondering if any of you ever used hens to hatch peas. If so how many eggs...
