    Worming Chickens...HELP!!!

I wanted to worm my chickens because even though I haven't seen any wierd poo or anything it's been a year and I figured it wouldn't hurt. (Egg production has also gone down.) So i go to TSC and they say to use Terramycin and sell me 2- 6.4oz packages. They said to put I pack in my 5 Gal...

Yes they do!!! DH was wondering the same thing. He just wouldn't believe me. So when we culled a few weeks ago he and his brother tried it. They actually had a hard time catching one of them.

*Update w/ PICS Help injurd baby rabbit

How old is this bunny? Is it old enough to be off of its momma? That will make a difference too. If the ASPCA won't help (some wild animals they just don't) try finding someone who hunts with dogs. They usually know someone who raises rabbits to train the dogs. They would know what to do...

Life with Murphy's Law - this time in the Hawk Department

I would call a Wildlife Conservation Office and ask if there is anything they can do. Just tell them they are swooping down even when you go out there and now you are afraid to go out. It is against the law in most places for us to mess with them. But some of these agencies can and will...

    hens dying 1 a month

Are they laying as usual? Is their poop normal? I would watch to see if the RIRs are freeranging in places the Buffs aren't. If that is the case I would take a good look at what is in the area they are ranging in.

    hens dying 1 a month

Which breeds are dying? How old are they? What are you feeding them? Are they in a fenced run or do they free-range? Have you introduced anything new to the environment or any new treats or food?

Anybody know about electric clothes dryer

You could also try putting duct tape on a wire hanger (or something else semi-flexible) with the sticky side out. Swipe it around in there and see if you get anything. PS: I would also give him some benedryl and put him to bed early tonight.

Attn BYC! Heard of the National Animal Identification System (NAIS)?

We wouldn't be in this situation if everyone was responsable with regards to their animals. Some people intentionally hide problems in their flocks or herds. These are the people we need to be mad at. I know people who say "don't have anything tested and don't have any necropsies done because...

Can anyone tell me if my chick is sick or if she is injured?

They should. Or if you have a TSC near you they would have it. I think even a Poultry Nuti-drench would work too.

    hatchery chick without eyes

If it were me I would cull it. Simply because I look at quality of life. I can't stand to see them suffer. It will more than likely be lonely even if you do find it a companion. And just about all animals will pick on the one that is different. I find it a little odd that they check...

How do you clean up after house chickens?

I am so glad to here that others have dogs that eat poop. I have been so embarassed because our 2 dogs will eat poop from any animal around here.

My husband is being a jerk about my chickens...

When mine starts whining about his space being infringed upon I start tossing the stuff he leaves on my kitchen table, counters, washer and dryer out into the yard. At that point he shuts up.

New Roo Introductionto 'the girls' question

Sorry...I should have explained more. The spur won't receede but the quick part inside (the part that bleeds when you cut it) will.

New Roo Introductionto 'the girls' question

I would trim those spurs for one. And if you can separate your run so they could see each other thru the fence that would give them a chance to get to know each other. You can get the spurs to be much shorter over time. Just clip back regularly till you are just about to the dark area and...

My whole flock was killed last night, please help me

You could try leaving a radio on in the barn. Just leave it on a talk show station. Sometimes hearing human voices will keep them out. I would also go look around outside. Somewhere there has to be evidence of what went on. But my guess would be foxes or bobcats.

gross vent on chick (new pic 4/6) ** warning: graphic pix **

I think that certainly looks better. Keep doing what you are doing. Make sure you gently wash away the crusty dead stuff before you reapply anything. Is she eatig and drinking alright for you?

Whats the name of your chick or roo? this will be fun

We haven't named any of our hens because we decided they were not pets, they are farm animals. That was supposed to apply to the Roo too. Well that only lasted a few days. DH went out to watch the chickens and came in exclaiming that he had named our Roo LUCKY. Our roo is so well liked by...
