Worming Chickens...HELP!!!

I wanted to worm my chickens because even though I haven't seen any wierd poo or anything it's been a year and I figured it wouldn't hurt. (Egg production has also gone down.) So i go to TSC and they say to use Terramycin and sell me 2- 6.4oz packages. They said to put I pack in my 5 Gal. waterer and 2 days later put the other one in. I have 35 chickens. Now that I've read the package....None of this seems right! And I don't even know if I would be able to figure out the dosage. I really stink at math and I feel like I need a Degree in Pharmacuticals and equipment to get this right.

If anyone can give me any advice I would really appreciate it.

I don't know what you could use to get rid of all worms without affecting the eggs and waiting 2-3 weeks before using them again. Some people use DE if there is no real signs of heavy infestation. That does not affect eggs. If you want to kill off worms and mites,lice etc...use Ivomec. 1/4 cc on the back of the head or neck is what I use on a full size bird. Fenabenazole(goat/horse wormer)(SafeGuard) also kills worms.If you buy the small goat bottle it is 1cc per 10 lbs of bird in mouth, which is what my vet suggested. I rotate between the two.

First off, Terramycin is an antibiotic, not a wormer, and that dosing is way off too. Also, you can't use ivomec as an external treatment unless it is the eprinex. You can find out my method of worming my fowl on my site HERE . Good luck.

Please do tell them to stop being irresponsible with their info - as noted above, terramycin has nothing to do with worming - aughhhh!!!

I just finished worming mine...I only used commercial wormer Wazine when I found and could SEE a worm in the droppings. We are totally organic here and use only Food grade DE...but when I found the worm...I used the Wazine. Not sure about the others...but all Wazine does is paralyze the worm so the bird can pass it and then the DE I dust with dehydrates it and kills them. And it only covers a few varieties of worms.

Related question:

Is it good to give your chickens anything during or after worming since it can be so hard on their systems? I have a sick chicken who I am currently dosing with fenbendazole (SafeGuard), and I am wondering if I should also give her some nutri-drench or other vitamins or special food as well. Since she's already pretty thin and weak, I am worried about the wormer being hard on her system. Any thoughts?

I've always used Ivomec on the skin to rid mites and fleas, it's always worked for me.
