Why is there a brown spot on my boiled eggs

Thank you. It’s good to know. I’m new at this. I’m still learning…so at times I get nervous about what I see.

Why is there a brown spot on my boiled eggs

I ate them. They were good. Just different from what I am use to. I’ve never eaten duck eggs until this fall. Still learning egg differences. I always ate white store bought eggs and avoided fresh farm eggs until now.

Why is there a brown spot on my boiled eggs

Quick question…. Why is there a brown ring and spot when I boiled my duck eggs? There are none in the chicken eggs I boiled with them. Is it safe to eat… pics attached and I cracked one open. And I split it. No odor except for that infamous boiled egg odor. Why do they turn brown… oh and they...

    Eating Eggs and feathers

Thanks. I’ve noticed since I put the bully’s together they don’t pluck and eat feathers. It’s a bully thing. Cuz once they are out, they go for the two that look like them but won’t touch the other girls. They have space and I’ve just expanded it a little this weekend. Toys and space they have...

    Eating Eggs and feathers

What brand of feed or foods do you give your chickens? How’s the eggs production, quality, and yoke color? How lush are their feathers? If great, please inform me so that I can see about changing my feed to something that will satisfy them. I use NatureWise, country companion, Purina flock...

    Eating Eggs and feathers

They get oyster and feed. But sometimes they don’t all the nutrients that they can get from natural foods. So it’s more of a treat than a main source of food.

My roo won’t go in his house

Thank you for your reply. The boys are now separated. My Frizzle got bopped in back of the head from Patty and he was bleed really bad from the base of his comb. Now Sammy and Frizzle are bunk buddies and Patty is alone; separated by chicken wire so that Patty cannot hurt any one of them. Its...

    Eating Eggs and feathers

I feed my Hens and Roos vegetables: Pea, corn, celery, radicchio, spring lettuce, sardines or sometimes tuna, rice, meal worms, beetles seeds, Kale, coleslaw mix with broccoli and carrots, oats, and collard greens in a big salad form in the morning. I give maybe 2 cups of salad mixed with the...

Comment by 'Lidy' in article 'Common egg quality problems'

One of my ducks started laying eggs that are a little off. All my birds are laying great eggs but for the last 2 days one of my Perkins have laid an egg that is not really normal. Yesterday, the egg had a hole- nail indention on but soft on that end and all other areas hard. This has happened...

My roo won’t go in his house

Okay so, the update is we bought another coop. I have been watching their behavior and it looks like Patty ( the red roo) is bullying the Sammy. Patty did kicked him out of the house. So now Patty and Frizzle share the main house and Sammy the new. It looks like they get along for the most part...

My roo won’t go in his house

Thank you. I used it to show my husband. I uploaded the images of the vent in the back. It’s like 2’x 4-6” high. We are going to work on the hen house and bachelor pad this weekend. I’m going to add a vent tomorrow. Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it.

My roo won’t go in his house

I fear that may be happening as well, I live in the Rockies. The rains bring colder weather and the temp is falling and fluctuates everyday. Nights are cold, their door stays open all day and they have a vent in the back of their house. I believe that I need to keep an eye on both- relationship...

My roo won’t go in his house

I have uploaded some photos. You’re right though my son closed up the back vent (24”x4”) and I believe that’s when he stopped sleeping in there. I just opened it up. Let’s see if he goes back in. The weather has been chilly, I didn’t think that was an issue. I see that it was. I am going to put...

My roo won’t go in his house

It has vents. The back has a drop down, there are gaps on the front door area and the back. It allows the air to pass through. From front to back and back to front. None of the doors are completely sealed.
