Her very back end is squishy. They get egg shells and oyster shells, plus green grass and soldier fly larvae. What calcium supplements do you recommend?

    Red Featherless Bottom

I have 4 hens including this hen and 4 babies three months old. I give them soaked grain (barley and wheat) with yogurt and an organic mash from Montana Eden Feeds Co. I also give them sunflower seeds. I have a large amish built coop, a 12x12 ' run and they free range on 1 acre of grass.

    Red Featherless Bottom

My hen's bottom (not near her vent) is red and the skin is slightly swollen. She is not laying and she's been separated from the flock for 3 days. She's not eating and depressed. The only thing that helps is an Epsom salt bath. The redness temporarily goes away, then comes back in a few hours...

    Montana Flock, saying Hi

Hi from Montana, I got 7 chicks back in 2020 and love my girls! People are shocked when they see how friendly they are. They love to sit on my lap, get butt rubs and follow me everhwhere. I've even brought a chicken to a video meeting! I have all girls, no roosters. Montana can be a...

2 hens raising chicks, 1 hen biting

I could divide my enclosure, but it would make it really small.. and since the one hen is taking care of all 6, I thought it would be better to try to take the biting hen out. Can one hen raise all 6 by herself? I took the biting hen out and it's been about 2 hours and if course she still...

2 hens raising chicks, 1 hen biting

I got fertilized eggs from a neighbor and 2 of my hens hatched 6 chicks. I put them in separate enclosure, but one hen (Betty) is biting one of the chicks that is a different color from all the others and causing a bit of mayhem. It looks like the other hen could take care of all 6 just fine...
