Do you think theres a chance it might heal on its own? Especially if its just a scratch. Hopefully not Mycoplasma or something he contracted from her chickens.

Bad luck or is it my fault

I offered to go to tractor supply and buy the $31 terramycin and bring it over to her. Honestly, he was a healthy bird before he went to her place. I gave him to her and I’ve never heard of someone wanting to return a rehomed rooster to a previous owner. Although it hurts my heart that he’s got...

Bad luck or is it my fault

I should have never rehomed him I guess. I thought I was doing him and my whole flock a favor. Wonder if he might get over the infection on his own? I couldn’t go over there and catch him if I wanted to.

No she did not quarantine him. I just know he caught it from her flock or from fighting another rooster.

Bad luck or is it my fault

I guess I just feel bad he was fine here at my home and then 1 week after rehoming he’s got an eye infection and she isn’t going to treat.

Bad luck or is it my fault

I can’t go get him. I rehomed him for a reason, because I had 2 roosters and only 6 hens.

Bad luck or is it my fault

Alas, nothing ever goes my way. Only one week after the rooster going to his new home… the lady messaged me saying he had an eye infection and it was swollen shut and that I needed to come get him. Apparently she isn’t going to treat it. The problem is that i cant bring him back. That was the...

2 many roosters in the hen house.

I'm very sad today. I had to re-home my 7 month old roo that I hatched from egg. The problem was, I already had a 19 month old rooster from a prior hatch. Hatched him from egg too and he was the dominant one (obviously). I only have 6 hens and I cannot free range due to predators. I have a...

    Hen down

None of my hens have laid in about 3 weeks. I’ve got two molting but not this one. Eyes and nostrils look normal. She is resting inside the house now with head tucked under wing but she is standing. Crop felt normal. Her breastbone is very prominent.

    Hen down

Help! This morning when the sun came up I went to feed my chickens and I had a hen down on the ground in the run. It appears she never made it into the coop at dark last night. I was able to pick her right up and bring her inside (she normally won’t let me). She’s lethargic and weak. She’s...
