Do you think this 14 week old Easter egger with cross beak is a rooster?

I was literally just wondering if that was possible for chickens! The way Gudatama behaves really gives off male and female vibes as well. Thank you for sharing Big girls thread, such a beautiful and unique chicken.

Do you think this 14 week old Easter egger with cross beak is a rooster?

Thanks! it was my first time ever doing that. When I look on the inside of the upper beak I can see what looks like a ridge and i went with that being the quick, so I wouldn’t go to short. Hopefully the quick will recede over time like you’re saying. I have been concerned for the bottom beak...

Best foods/treats to encourage bonding with new chicks?

Scrambled eggs and wet chick feed work well. You’ll have to hold your hand in one place for a while everyday to get them used to eating out of your hand. Once one of them eats it the others will as well.

Do you think this 14 week old Easter egger with cross beak is a rooster?

Yes I used dog toe nail clippers. I was worried to go any shorter than I did and only really did the tip. I haven’t heard any crowing yet, but when I look at them next to my other hens they look like a cockerel.

Do you think this 14 week old Easter egger with cross beak is a rooster?

I’m hoping they are because my neighbors probably won’t appreciate the crowing lol. I haven’t heard any crowing yet though. Gudatama is kind of funky looking, so I was thinking that the long sickle feather might be an Easter egger thing. If you liked Gudatamas name their sisters names are...

Do you think this 14 week old Easter egger with cross beak is a rooster?

Thanks, I had a feeling just by the tail, but the feathers were still looking pretty round and solid. His names Gudatama and he’s extremely affectionate and gets along with my other hens so i would like to keep him around

Do you think this 14 week old Easter egger with cross beak is a rooster?

Also any tips on taking care of a cross beak chicken would be greatly appreciated. It’s not a terrible case of cross beak. It’s not exactly crossed either, it’s more of a curve, but I can tell they have a harder time eating than my other girls and their feathers are taking longer to grow.

My year old hen named poachie has been missing feathers around her but/vent for a few months and it’s kind of red maybe swollen

I feed them this stuff and they have a ton of space. More than they need 4 chickens in a coop for 4 chickens. I just got a grow out coop and I’m adding 4 more to the flock.

My year old hen named poachie has been missing feathers around her but/vent for a few months and it’s kind of red maybe swollen

I looked into vent gleet and this doesn’t really look like it to me. There’s never been any discharge and she lays eggs regularly. She is also free range and only ever spends time in the coop to sleep or lay.

My year old hen named poachie has been missing feathers around her but/vent for a few months and it’s kind of red maybe swollen

I’m a first time chicken owner going into my first year. At first I thought this was her molting, but I’m starting to feel unsure. 1.)She’s a one year old Rhode Island Red she’s a little bit smaller and thinner than the others ( not by much though and she’s always been a littler smaller 2.)...
