On the topic of vehicles, we're literally going through this right now! My 2014 Explorer got totalled last year & we just replaced it with a 2006 Expedition (Ford people here 😉). My husband went to carmax yesterday & sold his 2015 F150. He is now looking for a 1992-1997 F250 or 350. We need crew...
Was 7b, but I think it's changed to 8a now. Dec 2022 we got down to 7°F one night, & the ones that were cut off at the soil survived & came back in the spring. But those temps aren't normal here & it didn't stay that cold very long. I use heavy leaf mulch & frost covers & we've gotten down to...
Happy New Year! Here's our collards I picked yesterday. They are currently in the crockpot for our NY supper. These are champion collards. They are super resilient & very easy to grow! They will also come back even after cutting the stem all the way down at the soil line. Ask me how I know. 🤣
Picked the 1st batch of fall collards & had them for supper last night. I am also trying out carrots, spinach, & lettuce in the Greenstalks because I can't get them to grow in the dang ground...
It was the same process as the chickens, but my husband had to carry it, dunk it, & flip it over for me. We bought a clean, used keg from a brewery to scald them because our turkey fryer pot wasn't big enough. We had no idea they would get so big! We were thinking maybe 20lbs for him. We were...
We butchered our 2 turkeys last weekend (this is our 1st year trying them). The male is 32lbs, female 21lbs. After processing. 😳 Lol. Good thing we will have a crowd for Thanksgiving! Leftovers for everyone! :D
Ok luffa experts. I saw some chatter about them, so I figured I'd drop in & ask your opinion on mine :frow This is my 1st time growing them. I was feeling them up today & they are a bit soft & squishy. Is that bad? We got down to 37 a couple weeks ago & will get down to that tonight. The vines &...
Here's our peppers growing in the Greenstalk. They are growing so much better than they ever did in the ground! We do have to water frequently though, but it's not too bad since they are close by on the back deck.
Canned some peppers yesterday. Hubby wanted a few different types of hot peppers & there wasn't any room in the garden, so we grew them in a greenstalk on the back deck. They are growing so much better than they ever did in the ground in years past! I will try bell peppers in it next year too...
