I have a well insulated coop and I can rarely hear them until I go to let them out in the morning then I hear the loud thumps of them jumping off their roost. Is it possible to better insulate or put some kind of sound proofing on the ceiling to prevent the echoing? I'm sure you could quiet it...
I have eight 8 month olds and have 27 new chicks coming this week. There will be three roosters in this batch of 27, but how to introduce them to their seniors and when???

I had one die out of eight with the exact circustances. No trace of mites, but they had bare butts from being pecked at. I'm going to keep an eye on this thread and see what the BYC family has to say.

I'm going to try Blue kote, and some vicks on the wounds once they are healed enough to go back into the coop. I'm also going to try 1 tbsp of vinegar in their water per gallon. I've been doing some pretty detailed research on this lately.
