My chickens wouldn't eat it either at first - I had to put it in the food processor a couple of times. I even tried taking the seeds out by hand at first. They finally got it! Now they love it!
I tried the food processor too! They still looked at me in disgust. I'll keep trying till...
This happened to one of my BO at 5 weeks of age. I thought she was going to die. We couldn't get her to stand at all and she just laid off to one side with her legs off to the other side. We brought her into the house, (she had a heat lamp on her because of her age but I had also read somewhere...
I have homeschooled my daughter who is now 11 since the beginning. She's never gone to any school.
1. What made you decide to homeschool your children?
My husband's job at the time helped me to decide on homeschooling. She was 4 at the time but if I would have put her in preschool, we...

We are new to this but we think it's full. My daughter thinks that compared with another chicken her crop feels full but the chicken we're comparing to was sleeping so may have not eaten for a bit.
Yes her poop is normal and she is eating/drinking. Not as much as the others but seems a little interested in food. After having her separate for a day, she looked pretty normal. We put her back with the rest but today she's doing the same thing again. Thanks for responding and bumping this up...

I personally would wait until their older but if you do, make sure that they have grit as well.
Thank you. I do give them grit but maybe I will hold off a bit.
Our 6 1/2 week BO as of yesterday has been spotted sleeping most of the time. Just 2 days ago she was fine. She sleeps standing up for the most part or at least that is what we're seeing. She has puffed herself out to look like a big ball and is often twitching her head just the slightest. Any...
azygous, that makes sense. I guess he shouldn't be putting out there the "guarantee". I don't know, maybe he's willing to take them back if they're not girls. Well if I have 20 chicks, I sure hope I don't have 4-6 roosters! I don't mind 1 or 2 but 6 is a whole 'nother story. And I sure hope the...

So the guy who sold them to me (when they were 4 weeks old) and guaranteed pullets is wrong? I thought you could tell these breeds at an early age.

I was kind of wondering about the pine tar for this age but I also don't know how to possibly break the habit otherwise. Maybe it's not breakable? They are almost fully feathered out with the BO's already feathered. The RIR that is in there pecking at the others right now isn't pecking...
I was so hesitant on getting the RIR's and should have went with my gut. We got them from a local guy but they obviously aren't nice (well so far one doesn't seem to be a pecker). We're not into culling them so I guess I'll need to find another solution for them.
