19 or so moved into the brooder, my first time so I'm excited. Day 20.5, I put about 90 in total, I figured being the winter and not able to gather eggs some days until after dark, things are going ok
I used oak and hemlock, with some 1/4" screens from a rock quarry on the run with the 1/2 cloth on top. hopefully it will keep critters out. I have some old conveyor belt that is tougher than woodpecker lips, the plan is to bury it around the bottom.
Thanks so much for the reply, but I found ten pullets close to home and purchased them. He also has a young rooster that I am planning to pick up this weekend so I can keep some game stock. However I may be wanting some in the near future.
I have a nice mix of game hens that seem to survive well free ranging, the guy that gave them to me said they are Kelso, Sweater, Roundhead mixes. I ordered some Brown Leghorns and plan to cross for better laying. These definitely arent pets, I just throw some scratch feed out and keep an eye...
