I grew up on a farm with chickens but I have never used an incubator. Last night I got my hands on an older gqf 1502 and a brooder. I have read and watched videos on the subject, I think everything will be ready to start this Friday. There are lots of unused barn space to make a home for these birds. I have never built anything for chickens, I would appreciate advice on what is the best wire to keep predators out? How much outside room do they need? This time of year I am gone before daylight and home after dark through the week.

Today is day 19.5 and I have a couple little beaks poking through. It's getting exciting.

19 or so moved into the brooder, my first time so I'm excited. Day 20.5, I put about 90 in total, I figured being the winter and not able to gather eggs some days until after dark, things are going ok

It's hard to see how cute they are when everything's red. Could you try a shot with the red light off? It's easier to see them and they're so much cuter when they're not red.

Adorable babies, ❤ congrats! Starting temp for day olds is around 88 degrees. Any hotter and they can over heat and or start to become cannibalistic.
