My tamed duck won’t eat mealworms

Put them in water. Either toss a couple in his drinking water or when he bathes and let him find them.

Entry 2 - my mini Zebu, Lolly. She is 10 months old, and she loves food, and annoying me. But she's so sweet and cute that I don't really mind. If I don't give her attention when she walks up to me, she will stand there and start chewing on my clothes. This is probably some kind of behavior I...

Easter Egger and Olive Egger confusion

Well said! And this is also why Olive Eggers and chocolate/ true blue layers should come from reputable breeders if you’re worried about quality. They are bred for quality by selective breeding. Some people do not care one way or another. I personally do, because genetics fascinate me ♥️

Easter Egger and Olive Egger confusion

I didn’t say marans were the only brown layers to produce Olive Eggers, simply just used them as examples because they are homozygous brown carriers. Easter eggers aren’t guaranteed to produce blue eggs. But a cream legbar or amerecauna are guaranteed because they are pure bred with no crosses...

Easter Egger and Olive Egger confusion

It’s genetics. I explained and it makes perfect sense lol. If you can’t make sense of genetics from my explanation i also posted a link. Feel free to do your own research but the link I posted explains very well I think. I agree with all the egger names getting out of hand.

Whatever eggs you have will be fine! If the ones hatched are dried off I would go ahead and remove them and put in the brooder.

Do you have chickens or laying ducks? Duck eggs are higher in protein if so

Ohhh look at that Sweet baby!! From what I can tell it looks like that’s just membrane that stuck to the shell. I would offer that one a little yolk as soon as it’s ready to eat something just bc it struggled a little more.

Brown and Yellow scabs on skin

She passed away last night in my arms right when I was about to tube feed her some baby bird formula. She actually had a normal color and textured poop yesterday, and her keel bone wasn't as prominant as it was the day I started so I thought for sure the tube feeding was helping her, and she...

I would intervene on that one today, I think that sweet baby needs some help. How big is the external pip on that one now?

Its ok! Any progress with them this morning? If you feel like you need to finish the hatch for them here's what you need (in case you don't already know): -Tweezers -Syringe with water (in case of dried/stuck membrane) -small cuticle scissors (I ONLY use these if the tweezers won't break a...

Brown and Yellow scabs on skin

That was the first time I had ever dipped them on July 5. I did it in lukewarm/room temp water, and I only dipped them so I knew all their feathers got covered. Some had a lot more on their feathers than others. Before that I dusted them twice, just because it was all I could do at the time...
