Brown and Yellow scabs on skin

I'm sorry for your loss.

I hope @Eggcessive and @coach723 are able to take a look at the report too and give their suggestions/input.

I'm certainly not a vet or expert. I'll to explain how I read the Final.
Rhinitis which is inflammation of the mucous membranes was found. There was a mix of Cocci and Bacilli. Cocci (not Coccidiosis) is a bacteria. Examples of Cocci is Streptococcus pneumonia and staph (skin infections). Bacilli are also a bacteria. An example of Bacilli is E. Coli.
So, bacterial infection in the mucous membranes which allowed entry into the body in turn eventually causing Sepsis.

Assumption on my part. Chickens pick/peck in the dirt and can pick up all types of bacteria and pathogens in the soil, from poop, etc. These could enter the mucous membranes through the nostrils or inside the beak through the choanal slit and/or eyes. Unfortunately, it seems that her system was unable to fight the infection.

Personally, I don't think that spraying Permethrin would have caused her to contract these bacteria which caused infection. Possibly the spray may have irritated the respiratory system.

I'm sorry that you have had to go through this. Hopefully moving forward, you will not have any more issues.

Just my 2¢

that makes a heck of a lot more sense than what I conjured up! Lol
Thank you so much for your input!

These reports should come with a “how to read necropsy reports for dummies” 😂

Necropsy reports can often require a medical dictionary, or google, to translate. I very much agree with what @Wyorp Rock said. I can say that over the years I've had birds that just seemed to have weaker immune systems, that were bothered by things that never affected other birds. Like humans, there are unknowns in genetics and development. Some birds can carry a load of worms with no obvious ill effects, others can get really sick and even die from secondary infections caused by the parasites. It's good to know that it wasn't MG or MS and the rest of the flock won't be affected. Without that info I would have probably suspected MG as it can weaken them and leave them vulnerable to all kinds of other things. I'm very sorry for your loss, but very glad you got her looked at and tested.
