babar is my young silkie hen she is about 9 months old and just started laying eggs a few weeks ago. i noticed these last couple days she’s been a bit lethargic and hasn’t laid an egg in around 3 days (typically lays every other day). i examined her today and noticed all this scabbing running along her body, some around her vent (not on but about an inch away) and all along her belly and up the bottoms of her wings. she has no scabbing around her neck or face or feet. the scabs flake off pretty easy in most areas and are a yellowish slightly brown color and the skin underneath looks a little raw but mostly healing. she’s eating and drinking but just a little lethargic and no eggs.

i’ve separated her from her flock.

about a week ago i did a permethrin dip on all my birds because they have a reoccurring red fowl mite issue, i haven’t been finding the premthrin to be helping much. i also have cleaned and treated their coop several times with the dust and the spray. i’ve followed up with the spray in their problem spots but it’s not quite cured yet. i don’t see any mites on her today just the dry scabbing.

i’m thinking this might be an eczema reaction to the permethrin? i will likely do a warm salt bath today in case of any egg binding issues and to relax her muscles and soften the scabs.

Any help would be appreciated i really need to her to recover, she’s my sweetest hen!
