hello all,
here a small update.
the chick is like 8 weeks old now.
still dont know exactly what breed this is but hen and chick look healthy, they forage around the garden a lot, they like to sit in some bushes on the floor after their food rallies..its like taking a siesta, to start again...
Hello everyone,
A small update..I have a video of the chick to share, i cant get closer so i have to zoom in, sorry if the quality isnt that good.
The chick is about 6 weeks old right now..maybe off by a day or 2 less or more.
I don't know if its either male or female...
Oh yes, i do. I throw a little bit of little bird feed with plantain, little earthworms..keeping it simple
and about the rooster, there are many roosters around, but none is really close, however; for the past couple months ive noticed a nearby flock, a rooster with 3 to 4 hens.
All I did was...
Greetings all...i have a little update.
So last time we've spoken was in March.
Between the time I first joined..started this thread and today, she must have laid eggs like 3 to 4 times. She has her seasons, she doesn't lay daily.
Everytime they were not fertile, she would sit for a while but...
Hello all,
Here's a little update on the chicken.
A video of her eating,I just put some food for her.

She is sitting on 11 eggs for the past 2 weeks or so and comes out every other day.
Thanks, I did my best.
She found her way thru a cluster of aloe vera in a corner next to the wall:D:D
I carefully picked 3 eggs up and put them in the bucket where she put the first 2.

They're pretty far, I never seen any near here.
But then again..I'm a total newbie to this.

Hello all, just wanted to share.
Today was the first time I saw her go into the bucket since the day I put it.
I just went to check and found an egg 😍
As you can see on the picture, I used just some cut grass as bedding..do I put more now or leave it as is?
Thanks for the reply guys.
To Tahai:
Most if not all the chickens walking around on the island are more or less the same.
We have local chicken farms for egg production for the island but those chickens are the common commercial egg laying ones.
So what do you think about going to the other...
like we've talked before...some said maybe its not a good idea.
What would you suggest? A young rooster? Real young? Old?
When you say "oriental" , you mean another one of her kind or a complete different race?
i am 97% sure (dont dare to say 100%, since i cant prove it) this chicken comes from a lineage that hasn't dealt with people for a couple of generations.
