(Wasn’t sure if this thread or the raising chickens thread was the right one for this since I hatched them) He hatched a few days ago and began walking funny yesterday and I thought it was probably straddle leg and had gotten the thing for it but upon checking today I noticed this. Is it safe to...
Out of curiosity would it be bad if I did nothing?. Like it’s walking, eating, drinking. It can still poop so the crust isn’t covering, aside from being way small and a bit bonier it seems to be living normally. Like personally I’m not sure I wanna just leave it with crusty bits but if I did...
The best I could do photo wise, that’s what the area looks like right now, the chick is moving but seems to have a wobble when the leg brushes against it. It’s all one big crust so I can’t really rub it off without pulling it all off and i dont know if that will hurt it.
Good I think, been keeping it separate, but the yolk sac has dried into a crusty layer on the underbelly and I’m not sure if I should just leave it alone or do something about it.
So I ended up having to assist, and he’s doing fine, chilling in the incubator as we speak, but I do have a question on another one. It hatched still stuck to the egg by umbilical cord and after it had essentially pushed it till it snapped off I noticed it had two little peanut sized things...
I have one that has had its beak sticking out of the egg for 24 hours straight and the eggs that popped before and after this one have already hatched. He’s clearly alive because I can see it opening its beak repeatedly but it’s not doing anything other than that. Is that cause for concern?
Should I be concerned with this egg, the progress shown in the photo is been unchanged since 11 last night so it will be essentially visually unchanged for 24 hours in 2 hours from now. At what point(if necessary and if not already) should I consider attempting assisted hatch?
All 12 of my eggs in the incubator looked to be good in the last candling just before lockdown and 9/12 hatched on first day of lockdown and day 21 was yesterday. Should I be concerned about the remaining 3 should I have checked again? Or do I just wait longer?
