No, no feathers, but we can't find her anywhere, and if she left the yard, she's got about a 50/50 chance per day of staying alive.
Well, we don't love them 'cause they're smart.
Here's a question for you chicken experts.
We purchased a polish crested (Cruella) sometime ago, and about 2 months ago she laid white eggs for 4 days.
Since then, nothing!
She is well fed, in good health, gets alot of attention (since she can't see well, we pick her up alot, and she's cool...

I recommend Vanessa (ArizonaNessa on this forum). Best price, healthiest birds, nicest salesperson. I've bought two dozen hens from her now, all total.
I'd also recommend the Cinnamon Queen from her. Great birds. Very consistent layers. Fun personalities. Always good for a laugh.
Just returned from Glendale where I picked up more Cinnamon Queens and a beautiful Americauna from ArizonaNessa.
Even picked up an extra 2 nesting boxes (much better than what I made myself!)
Everyone, I must confess that, although I get nothing for saying it (and we're not related), I highly...

Welcome! I have no idea where you live (I'm new to AZ) but I get all my pullets from Vanessa (Azcknldy) in Glendale.
All supplies from the local feed store.
Trust me, you can't go wrong with that combo, and I'm not paid to say it.
We love our Cinnamon Queens, Vanessa!
They are funny, super layers, and just wonderful peacekeepers around the somewhat more beligerent Blacks and Barreds (they aren't bad, but compared to the CQs they are pushy).
We'll be down today to pick up our pullets.
Well, I'm happy to report that my young pullets have started to lay young pullet eggs.
They are small, and thin and kinda cute.
Thank God it has begun. The CQs and the old ladies have some competition...finally!
Ahh Alaska!
I spent several years there as a clergyman, and miss it terribly!
Didn't have chickens at that time, but stayed with a priest who did.
Get them close to the cows in the barn. Barring that, I'm afraid I have no useful advice other than find other chicken owners and do what they do...
My barred rocks are getting red in the face, and we are hoping for them to lay pretty soon. They sure got big!
Sadly, we lost a white rock and Americauna, both 3 months old, yesterday to a coon, so we're down to 11 birds, two of which are laying.
North Phoenix area - Besides the craigslist ad for older chicks & pullets (35th & Happy Valley),
I get my chickens from here, Vanessa. A++
If you are in north Phoenix, go to Vanessa. She advertises on Craigslist. Tell her John from Prescott sent you.
I lost two pullets this morning after I let the girls out of the coop.
One barred rock, one black sex link. Both not laying yet.
The barred rock was beheaded, wings torn off, but left behind. The Black sex link - gone.
Any idea what may have done it?
It was in one of the few corners of my...
I asked her, but she was stumped.
However...
I did ask an old friend back in Ohio, who said that fresh eggs don't hard boil very well. One should wait a week before hard boiling them.
Works for me.
Just FYI, should anyone else need the information.
Welsummers, eh?
They lay the dark brown eggs, right?
Do you have a spare laying hen?
Or would you be willing to sell me a dozen of their eggs this April?
They are great for dying red (I'm an Orthodox Christian, and we dye all Easter Eggs red, and the darker the egg, the richer the red color)...
Well, I finished my coop, and picked up some laying hens (3 Cinnamon Queens) and 4 juvenile pullets (2 barred rocks, 2 black stars) on Saturday.
The queens are actually laying in the nest boxes.
Sniff.
It's a miracle.
