Welcome, I'm also a new chicken mom from KY. I have gotten so much great advice here thats been so unbelievably helpful. You're definitely in the right place. Are silkies so much fun!? I've got 3 two hen and a rooster. I also have 6 other hens and a rooster different breeds. And two ducks a...
Thanks I appreciate the advice. I did candle them today and they are definitely growing but I haven't marked them I'll do that tonight when I tuck them in. Lol I know the other hen is laying and she's the only one sitting so I guess I need to separate her for now. Again thanks a lot.
I'm a little worried about my hen she has been sitting for days and I've not seen her off of the eggs at all. I check on her every morning and night my concern is if she is eating and drinking enough. I've tried to give her food and water but she rejects it. She has even rejected mill worms...
I'm not 100% sure but think one of my chickens has a broken wing. My other hens have been picking on her and this morning when I came out one wing is really hanging. I'm guess that somehow while trying to get away she managed to get it stuck to the fly paper sheet and it way still attached to...
Thank you I have separated them and am trying to figure out what to do next. Do you think there I'd any reason he goes after the same one all the time? He doesn't bother any of the others.
I have my two ducks and my six hens together and in the last few days my male duck has been attacking one of my hens. And it just the one. My hens aren't even old enough to lay yet. I have them separated for now until I find out why this is happening. Has anyone had this issue? If so what did...
I've got different types of Wyndottes that aren't even to laying age yet and have really only been in the coop for a couple weeks I'm just trying to plan ahead. I want to make sure I'm doing things right to keep them happy.
It is unusual to get the amount of rain we've been getting. Last night alone we got a little over 2 inches in an hour it was insane our whole property was flooded. I plan on making trenches and drains for run off. I just can't do that right now I just need a temporary fix to keep my little ones...
Would small plastic storage totes work for Nesting boxes? I was thinking about these because they'd be easy to clean. I wanted to check with more experienced chicken owners.
We've been having a lot of rain lately causing very wet conditions in the run would it be ok to sand some sand to the run to help with draining? Thanks
Thanks, I think they're beautiful too. How can you tell if they are male or female? And do you have any idea why one is growing so much faster than the other?
I've got two that I've had for about five or six weeks. I'm not sure what kind they are but one has grown twice as fast as the other. I just love them so much they're so fun to watch. Here's pics of Reggie and Knot Head!
I have two at this time but I'm unsure of their exact age or type. I've had them for just about five weeks and they were once the same size. Reggie has grown twice as fast as Knot Head.
