They have a pen to live in with my LSG dog and chickens, but my dad also has some stuff in there. I don't know what he really needs to be in there for. Usually when he's working in the yard I'm not home because of work
I want to handle mine and be friends with them. The geese are a mix of sebastopol, toulouse and Chinese. They don't seem too aggressive, but I guess if they are mean to him I can get a large dog crate for them while he works? Obviously with food and water in it
Hello everyone!
I just got three geese (Medusa, Lyric and Zephyr). They're 8 weeks old. I'm worried that they will only like me and my family they will see everyday, and be aggressive to my dad who works away and typically is only home every few months. Is there a way to make sure they at the...
So the Embden goslings didn't work out. They had all males. So I'm waiting to hear back from someone locally who has 3 available that are 2 months old.
If they can't fly then they won't get stuck in the net. They'd have to get up high on something to glide down. The closet hill is thankfully too far for them to fly off of
Yeah I'm so excited! I think everyone I know is really to lock me in a box and ship me away, because I talk about them too much! And absolutely, I'll have to keep you up to date!
I might have been thinking nares! I read eyes on one article, so I'm thinking they were wrong! I wouldn't take what I say as 100% factual because I'm just learning! But good luck with your little honkers! Let me know if you have any tips as you go, since I might be getting them in two weeks now...
Next month I'm getting goslings. Embden geese, if breed matter for how they're raised. I'm getting two or four, because my mum doesn't want an odd number.
I've been doing some reading and I've got a pen for them once they're big enough to be outside without supplemental heat.
I read for the...
Hello everyone!
I'm looking into getting geese. As you can probably guess from the title, I'm in Canada, BC. I just want them as pets, not to eat, be guard birds or anything else. If anyone has any idea, please let me know. I'm really not wanting to have to do the paperwork to bring them across...
I've hatched with a hen before, so I thankfully knew about the first bit! And I always store eggs pointy end down (though most of mine are quite round so it sometimes takes a good look haha). Though washing my hands first is new information, I'll make sure to do that now, thank you!
I'll candle...
Ooooh, okay, that's cool! And good to know if I ever get turkeys!
Thabk you!
I can't remember the exact model. My mum got it for me as a gift yesterday. I attached a screenshot of the one I think it is. It looks the same from the breif few seconds I saw it when she showed me...
We have a generator in case the power goes out. Also, my house is quite warm because I have a hedgehog and they need to stay at 23°C (73.4°F) or they could attempt hibernation, which if not stopped in an hour, will likely kill them. He's an African Pygmy hedgehog, which are evolving out of the...
Oooh okay that makes more sense. I was confused, when I've hatched with a broody hen I took them all out from under her (i had them numbered so I never missed one) to candle them and make sure they were undamaged almost daily
