Hello everyone,
I just got three geese last week (they're 9 weeks old now) and I live on a property with a rather crappy well, so we haven't been able to make a pond yet. Until a pond is made, I've given them a deep kiddie pool that is large enough for them all to play and splash in. They have been enjoying themselves, but the water gets dirty quickly.
I would like to know if there's anything I can do to keep it clean? Plants, filters (it would need to be solar panel because the outlet to the coop is too far away) or something else. My chickens and dogs also drink from it (because obviously the water I give them isn't good enough).
I have heard duckweed helps, but wouldn't the geese just eat it all right away?

Thanks in advance!

That definitely is a problem without an easy solution. There are complex solutions with complex filtration,, but you are not ready for it.
Best solution,,, is to fill it reasonably good, amount, and dump out, as necessary.
Ducks, and geese do enjoy a pond/pool. (water) and that is my main reason I don't have any. :old :hit
Ideal situation for having a duck/geese pond,, would be on a small running steam going thru your property.
Not everyone has such available.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:highfive:

Not too long after making this post, my geese decided the chickens and dog are pretty chill and now enjoy being on the chicken side of the pen, which means I will be able to get a filter now, once I settle on a spot to put the pool

I’ll be honest, I’ve had ducks. They are so dirty that I find it hard to believe any filter could make a dent before imploding, especially for such a small space as a kiddie pool. You’ll have to rinse and repeat for best results but that is a full time job, mine dirtied their pen pool immediately. I had a running mountain creek they swam in during the day, otherwise I wouldn’t have them.

It hasn't been too bad, it is just three geese. And there's no running water on my property. Just a sad little well. There's a creek that I have to cross to get home, I'm thinking of filling water jugs in it and filling the pool that way
