What are some good ways to give my geese some enrichment activities when they are in the pool? I’m a new goose momma and know geese love swimming but I also want to make sure they are getting enrichment out of it as well. I want to make sure they have fun. This pool has a slight leak and bend in it so I’m gonna be returning it and getting a bigger and deeper one. That one they should be able to dive in better. The current one that they are in is about 12 inches deep the one that I’m looking into is about 16 inches deep.

Yes I know they are young but based off my research they are old enough to have swim time. They are 3 weeks and I have the hose running with hot water to keep them warm also they are never left unattended because of how you g they are. I introduced them to the pool yesterday and they love it.

Don’t worry, goslings get introduced to water early with their moms, it’s fine for them to get in. Just have to be able to get out and get warm and dry quickly.

I like to say that geese find ways to enrich themselves haha. I have kids and there are little tikes toys around my yard and when geese get loose they really love all those toys laying around. The plastic ring toys, the dog tug rope, my dogs kongs, hula hoops, rubber bouncy balls, mini soccer balls, all will get played with / investigated by geese.

I think you can be pretty imaginative with what you give them, just be sure it can’t be broken and ingested.

Agreed 100% that you need to be able to get them out quickly and warm them quickly. That is why right now until they are bigger they are only swimming with supervision and I’m using warm water to fill the pool. I also agree with you with how destructive they are. They are little atomic bombs for sure. I’ll have to look into the dog toy idea. I have also seen where people will put goose safe foods in the water for them to dive after.
