My little mystery breed bantam layed her first little egg today and guess where it was? Underneath the nest boxes where my RIR is in the picture above!!
Trying one more time to determine the breed. I'm starting to think it's a Jersey Giant. Her legs are black and the bottom of her feet are yellow. She also has roundish eyes. She has always been very bold and inquisitive but not aggressive. She is so much tinier than the others that came in...
My hatchery cuckoo marans layed her first egg today!! It is not as dark as a proper cuckoo marans but it is darker than my RIR eggs and I'm a very proud chickie mama!!

A pre existing nonconforming is just that. What was pre existing or what you had in place prior to the zoning change. An expansion would qualify as a change and therefore not be grandfathered. Generally you will be left alone unless you are a nuisance, have something way out of whack with the...
Rhode Island Reds, Cuckoo Marans and California Whites
The brown egg in the front next to the white egg is from my hatchery Cuckoo Marans. It's only very slightly darker than the RIR eggs but pretty none the less. This is her third egg.

I noticed some black spots on one of my RR's and I've been treating her with some OTC antifungla jock itch cream. Not sure what the active ingredient is. I think it may be favus and I'm a little concerned that others may have it too. I noticed that my two California Whites have a white film...
I carry the eggs in my pocket all the time and I always think that this will be a disaster some day. I really should heed your warning and start thinking about finding a better carrier.
In looking at the other post, it appears to me that the other black chicken has pink earlobes. Your chicken looks like it definitely has white lobes to me. My chicken looked just like yours at twelve weeks and I thought it was an australorp too. Now that mine is 21-22 weeks, her white...
I recently posted one of my chicks that looks just like this. I thought she was an austalorp too but as she got older I noticed the white earlobes. My girl is also very mellow and sweet. the concensus seems to be that she is a minorca or andalusion. Coincidentally, today she spent a...
